The projections are:
5% - £74,800 (potential shortfall = £15,450)
7% - £93,200 (potential surplus = £2,950)
9% - £116,000 (potential surplus = £25,750)
We pay £1,608.84/year (£134.07/month)
We've paid in total £17,697.24 (£1,608.84/year x 11 years)
So our current fund value is worth 50% more than we have paid in
£134.07pm over 11 years with a fund value of around £26592 that around 7%0 -

Thanks gm4l
I will pay more attention to how it's performing in the next 11 years than I have in the last 11 years
I'm also thinking of increasing it to £250/monthMortgage at highest (April 2008): ~£195,000

I know relatively little about S&S (buy index funds cheap, don't get distracted by shiny nonsense and advertising), but a 50% growth in 11 years (albeit some pretty horrible years for investors) doesn't sound like you're making anything like 7% a year in real terms.
Do you have an IFA? Upping the amount sounds eminently sensible to my less than expert eyes.0 -

My IFA suggested withdrawing £20,000 and paying it off the mortgage now and I have an appointment with the financial advisor at my local Nationwide branch on Friday.
Although originally started to pay off the IO mortgage, the current plan is to OP the IO mortgage once we have cleared the further advance (repayment) and not to have to use this money for the mortgage

Eggs IN 5
Eggs OUT 3 (Christmas puddings)
Beef panang curry for dinner again to use up the curry paste Mr MWC made last weekend - just as yummy as last week
- Christmas puddings are still in the oven
- Blackberry whisky made
- Hedgerow jelly fruit and spiced crab apple jelly fruit dripping ready for jelly making tomorrow
- I've had a rummage in the shed for jam jars
- Sloes for sloe gin washed but they're not as ripe as I would have liked so I'm leaving them on the windowsill for a couple of days before I freeze them
- 350g rhubarb frozen
I didn't manage to go for a walk or hang the washing out
