  • Thanks Watty and Kirsty Park

I'll post photos when I've finished... only 10 kg of crab apples to go...!!!

The apple butter should keep for a year unopened. I think I may have overcooked it slightly as it has set rock-solid :( I still have 1.5 kg of apple puree left so I'll have another go tomorrow night :)

Second batch of fruit for herb jelly is dripping

  • Met with the Financial Advisor at the N/wide this afternoon - I'm more confused than ever...

    I think my options are:

    1. ISQ
2.Withdraw money from mortgage linked equity plan (~£27,000), pay lump sum on IO mortgage, convert IO mortgage to repayment and reduce term, continue with MOPs/savings
    3. Transfer mortgage linked equity plan to new investment plan (3% transfer charge) and pay ~£1000/month (i.e. use entire ISA allowance, 1.5% monthly charge paid as a lump sum X months in advance = £1,400)
    4. Keep mortgage linked equity plan and increase payments to maximum
5.Keep mortgage linked equity plan and increase MOPs

and numerous combinations of 2-5 probably :rotfl:

    Eggs IN 3
Egg OUT 18 (3 boxes sold for £6)

Yummy dinner today - lamb burgers (mashed up, mixed with rosemary & garlic, and reformed) served in a burger roll toasted in the griddle pan used to fry the burgers with lemon & tabasco mayonnaise, baby beetroot roasted with cumin, and a salad of peppery leaves

11 jars of crab apple butter made this afternoon. Much better than yesterday's batch - less cooking and I used 1/3 light brown sugar + 2/3 golden granulated sugar instead of dark brown sugar so you can actually taste the apple!

    More herb jelly tonight :)

Crab apple, gooseberry & chilli jelly and more spiced crab apple jelly today and then I'm calling it a day with two carrier bags of crab apples left :(

Would Mr T like some crab apples? :rotfl:

I'll start the chutneys mid-October when we get back from holiday :D

    ISQ?

2 looks like one of the better options from that list - there seem to be far too many suggested options that involve additional fees for investing. Do you have to continue with the mortgage-linked equity plan? Have you considered DIY ISA investing into low cost index tracking funds or similar?

Could you not chop and freeze the crab apples for using in chutneys in Oct?
