They may be great quality but at those prices I'd want something that actually looks nice! :o

Sorry I know written down that sounds really b*tchy I just thought they'd be a bit more fashionable/trendy at those prices, especially the first one, it's so masculine. They've very bland, so I guess they'd go with everything, but rather than timeless classics I think they're just lacking in style. Maybe it's an age thing, or maybe it's just a style thing - I like colours and patterns too much! :o

No, no, everyone has their own opinions.

In my part of the world (cold, miserable, freezing, did I mention COLD??) Scotland, style goes out the window when you are concentrating on not freezing your @rse off every time you leave the house :rotfl:

I passed on buying the North Face one as I was teetering on the edge of feeling like a teenager, but my Barbour one makes me feel like a country bumpkin grown up :rotfl::rotfl:

Bought is to buy. Brought is to bring.

I won't be getting a new one as have loads of coats.

A North Face with detachable fleece inner.
A navy Barbour lookalikey - Florence and Fred last year.
A taupe full length one, down to my ankles, this is by Windsmoor and is fitted at the waist and looks lovely.
A black smart wool thigh length one.
A tweed knee length one, 1940s style.
    A khaki Per Una parka.
A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.

Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

    one life, live it!

It is hard to find a balance - I hate that they don't make enough thigh or knee length ones (especially if you are taller) as when it rains all the water just hits you straight in the butt - horrible when you come to sit down.
And I just remembered that the other year when we had snow (and I'm down here on the south coast where it's normally a tad warmer) I bought a hat that wasn't hugely flattering, but I could not stand my frozen ears so it was look like a wally or freeze! :o
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.
  • now that has style! :D

yes you can see my dilema, i have a wardrobe full of stylish coats but none are "cough splutter...waterproof:rotfl:
I once did own an anorak but hated it so much i binned it in a fit of rage:eek::rotfl:

so i think i may have to buy both coats and just smuggle the joe browns one into my wardrobe and pull it out with a puzzled expression if oh quizzes me:o

  • I honestly think id prefer to shove one of them on for 50p over my nice coat in a rain emergency than pay £100 odd quid for a bloomin trespass anorak type creation:eek::rotfl:

my teen daughter who is 17 and absolutely beautifull is the absolute oppostite to me....she works at a city zoo as part of her college course so needs to keep dry and warm, well I ordered her a decent waterproof coat for september and she was over the moon with...wait for it...... the zip out fleece:rotfl::rotfl::T
She said she kept going on to her mate about it at the zoo and her friend replied...urm yeah i think my mom has one of them:o:rotfl:

I've not had a coat for decades, due to affordability. I struggle to find any that I like in my price bracket (£20) that are in a Petite range. I have now got an emergency "that'll do" one, that's WAY too long (nearly down to my ankles), that I got from a charity shop for £5 about 2 years ago and I've not worn yet.

I'm in need of a new winter coat. My one's looking pretty tired now. Got it from Principles in Debenhams for £60 or £70 about 5 years ago, so it's lasted me. But I would like a fashionable, yet waterproof/resistant one!

I do have a waterproof jacket I bought for work, but it's hardly fashionable. It is bright pink though! Wasn't good when I was in a cow field with a bull the other day...

Anyway, I need to find a new coat. I do like the military style ones, but would like a hood or find a new hat that suits me, which is a very rare thing to find!
