  • hi :)

i feel stupid asking this but do i send the initial letter asking for a list of charges to my local branch where the account is held or to a main office?

    i'm with natwest.

Not stupid at all, there is a thread up the top with addresses in and Rex is going to add to it all the addresses that will be needed. You can send your initial letter to your local branch, its later on you need to send to another address.

Hi, I have my bank statements and i'm being very pro active. Just a bit of advice needed. Can i reclaim for "charge arrangement fees"? at £20 a go?

    thanks
  • I've just drafted my letters to HSBC.
I'm only claiming £430 from them.

I am scared that they might close my mortgage account with them. Does anyone know if:
    a) it is likely
    b) it is legal?

On a second point, I had lots of trouble with my cheque accounts in the past, these were with co-op and halifax.
I don't have the account details anymore. Do you know how I can get hold of this information. I'd love to get the money back that they claimed from me!

    Thanks in advance

    GW
They will not close the mortgage, its under a different agreement.
A data request with name address etc should turn up the right info, they might ask for additional information to confirm your identity.

  • Hello,

Can anyone please offer me some advice on this situation I find myself in with Egg bank?

In March this year I contacted Egg to advance £5000 onto my credit card. I had the Egg card since around 1999 and had not used it since 2003 with 0 balance. Unfortunately I was very stupid and did not check my account for six months following the advance, when I did I found that Egg has been charging me £40 per month for card protection, coupled with interest this proved to be greater than the minimum balance I paid each month.

I contacted Egg as I had not requested card payment protection. They informed me that "This was sold to me during a phone call about a query for an Egg Loan in April 2003".

I have still tried to contest this with Egg informing them that they it was their obligation as a responsible lender to remind me of this situation when I borrowed £5000 in March.

Consequently I have paid over £200 for this facility since March and want it back. Egg are refusing saying "they are unable to refund any charges as it's up to me to keep an eye on your account for any charges that you don't recognise". I partially I accept I should have kept a closer eye on things but even if I had noticed this charge in the first month, I would still have been forced to pay £80 as it takes 30 days to cancel. I still feel they should have mentioned this protection on my account when arranging the borrowing over the telephone.

Do I have a leg to stand on ?

  • HELP! I have sent the Abbey the 2 letters, and have started court proceedings, but have had a letter from the court with an 'Acknowledgment of Service' signed by a solicitor on behalf of Abbey. Does anyone know if this means that they are going to take it to court or are they just playing for time?

You were sold insurance on the credit card when applying for a loan? Did you get the loan?

  • Hi,

I wondered if anyone can advise?

If say, I went overdrawn by £30 for example and the bank then charge me £30 fine, can I re-claim?

Also, if say a DD came out causing me to go £100 or more overdrawn, can I reclaim or is it only if you go a certain amount over your overdraft?

Lastly, I know I've been charged over the past 6 years but don't have a clue how much. How do I find out?

    Many thanks

HSBC group have just changed the name of a lot of the fees... they are still unlawfull. You cannot claim for anything like od arrangement fees, but you can claim anything that is a penalty. This one sounds like a penalty charge.
