    Thanks for that almond!

Sorry, it was my mistake. I thought that the Bank had actually turned up for the case.
It just goes to show that when they write these letters to you disputing your claim, they KNOW that they can't win and are trying to put you off. This obviously works in a lot of cases and they use it as damage limitation.

Thanks, I have read the page although it does not actually say if the RBS were actually in court. I spoke to the chap who wrote the article who thinks she won by default. He kindly is going to contact the lady concerned to ask and then he will email me back. I will post the answer as soon as I get it.

Everyone should look at the article to boost up their spirits. They can also click on comments and they will read this .....

"I used to work in a bank, and saw piddling overdrafts turn into hundreds of pounds through these charges. When the customer told the bank to get lost, they would register the debt as a County Court Judgement, and cry to the taxman that they had written off £450, and get full tax relief on that. This was despite the fact the original debt was £51, and £399 was already in their pockets. A licence to print money. "

    Hi All,

    On May 2nd I claimed £819 plus £104.75 interest (using Martin's calculator)
    Today they offered £747

From earlier posts I have read, not a lot though, it seems many people are fighting on and getting the whole amount...

    Any advice please...

As we know already, nobody knows of any bank appearing in court.

Banks often put in a defence for the claims as in the Manchester Evening News article. The vast majority then pay up before the court date.

There have been a very small number of instances where the case has ended up in a courtroom and claimants have lost. A brief overview for two of the more well known cases are in the FAQ in the Reclaim Help thread. These are exceptional though and the same situation is less likely to occur since these.
  • I'm looking to make a claim over my bank charges but was just wandering who do i address it to will it be my local branch or will it be to head office.

If any one can help it will be much appreciated.
  • Amazingly the Halifax have just sent me 6 years worth of statements today, the 4th May, a mere 3 days after they sent a letter telling me they would send them to me 'shortly' and exactly a week since I sent the first template letter to request my statements! And they didn't charge me for it either...I'm shocked.

Lets see how they react once I've waded through the statements and let them know how much they should pay...bet they won't be as prompt in paying up.

iv'e had positive feed-back from woolwich and barclays for my daughter and her boyfriend, Lloyds to be the experts in brinkmanship. i have decided that now i am at the MCOL stage i am absolutley not going to negotiate away my interest.
if Lloyds get the message that by dragging there feet is going to cost them more money then it should help others in the future.
