How can you blame Apple for that, when the iPad 3 was released there was no 4G network operating in the UK. There is still no 4G network until the end of this month. Ofcom hadn't even given EE the go ahead back in March, so you can't blame Apple for not supporting something that might not have even happened.

Okay so we are talking about a company that had sold over 100 million Iphones by 2011. I think they should know in the R&D dept. what the networks were going to be doing as this technology doesn't happen overnight.

They did - which is why iPad 3 won't connect to 4G, but the iPhone 5 will - but only using EE & 3UK. I knew at the point of sale what the options were and mad my decision to purchase based on this.
  • Okay so we travelled over an hour to the nearest Apple Store spoke to the Genius guys and found out there are no spare parts available in the UK at the moment, only the glass was broken and they agreed to replace the phone for us. Thank you Apple.

PS: We went straight out and bought a shock proof cover and got the phone insured..... Now getting O2 to switch over to the new Sim thats another story :)
  • How much did it cost after? Did they say when they expect spares to be availible?

I've never known Apple to do anything but a replacement service in store (at least not in any Apple Store I've been in).

The damaged phone will just go for refurbishing if they deem it suitable.

  • This isn't about other companies, but with the iPhone 5. If it was not secured correctly, then it is Apples fault. But for it to have broken up as much as that from waist height, mean's it's either defective, as that does occur with all types of products from all types of companies, or this story is false. If the story were true, then Apple is liable under the Fair Trading Act.

Er no. If you drop a glass object from waist height then of course there is a chance it will break. The fault lies with the dropper, not the manufacturer.

You mean unlike a certain Korean company that loves to copy Apple that has had EIGHTEEN different connectors in the time Apple has now had 2?

JUST two connectors for five phones....? As opposed to 18 for ALL of THESE http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung-phones-9.php (and this page - showing 85 Samsung phones - is just one of more than TEN pages listing Samsung phone models)

WARNING!!! I detect the ARDF (Apple Reality Distortion Field) in use here.

Note... I owned THIS http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_a1000-653.php rather a long while before Apple got into the phone business. It's a more-or-less rectangular phone with more-or-less rounded corners, that has a BIG touch screen that obviates the need for a keyboard. You (unwisely) mentioned "copying".....?!
  • I have an iPhone 5 and my screen has completely shattered, is there anyone out there who has been able to get theirs fixed cheaper than the Apple store. Unfortunately I don't have any insurance.

Ask in local markets or search the web, however as the iPhone 5 will still be in warranty going any where but Apple will likely void any remaining warranty, and as such not many people will do them yet.

Fixmyiphone do it for £175, Apple direct may be the cheaper option.
