If the Glass was defective then yes they should replace it, if the phone 5 is not designed to fall 2 feet onto a carpet okay I guess we should pay for new glass? But then how many people drop their phones every day Apple haven't even looked at the possibility that the phone may have a manufacturing defect in the glass.

Defect in what way?fone design or defective glass?

  • I've had the same problem, it fell out of my pocket while getting out of the car and the screen shattered. OK - it fell on a tarmac road but it was less than waist height. I phoned up apple and they said it would cost £200 to be repaired, the phone still works fine so i have been hanging on to see if any cheap replacement screens come up for sale, but nothing yet.

apple dont care, their products are very close to current tech without much chance of future been compatible eg 4g as now then can sell you an ipad 4. Just think could of bought a tablet pc for less and done the same thing if not more.
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Especially when you have spent £600 on a new phone

    [snip]

She was told that it would cost £300 for a replacement

Come on Apple I thought your customer services we supposed to be legendary? Not impressed so far.....
You broke a £600 phone, and yet they are willing to give you a replacement for only half the price? Seems like wonderful customer service to me.

OP isn't even quoting the proper out of warranty repair service price. For the iPhone 5 it's £179.

It was £139 on the 4S and they increased it for the 5 (as they did when the 4s replaced the 4).
    Out-of-Warranty Service
If you own an iPhone that is ineligible for warranty service but is eligible for Out-of-Warranty (OOW) Service, Apple will service your iPhone for the Out-of-Warranty Service Fee listed below.

Please note Out-of-Warranty Repair Service fees from your carrier may be different than those listed below.

    iPhone Model Out-of-Warranty Service
    iPhone 5 £ 186.44
    iPhone 4S £ 146.44
    iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS,
    iPhone 3G, Original iPhone £ 126.44
The Out-of-Warranty Service Fee includes a £ 7.44 shipping fee, which applies only if service is arranged through Apple and requires shipping. All fees are in British pound sterling and include VAT. iPhone Out-of-Warranty Service may also be available from your wireless carrier. Pricing may vary.

Remember this is the company which changed its dock connector and only wants an extra £30 for a plug to make the old connectors work.

You mean unlike a certain Korean company that loves to copy Apple that has had EIGHTEEN different connectors in the time Apple has now had 2?

And not once on any connector change did they even give the option to their users of an adapter?

  • you wont find the Korean company charging £30 for a dock adapter and getting away with it, just because its apple its ok.

Do you not have some kind of insurance from the credit card you used to buy it? I know that my American Express card insures goods for a certain number of days after purchase for example, and other card issuers provide similar benefits.

True, you won't. But that's because they didnt give a **** for their customers with old connector phones.

They didn't bother to ever make an adapter, no matter what it cost, for any of their connector changes.

    Not once.
