That's because they didn't need to. How many millions of docks were made that used those connectors?

It is £186 to replace an ip5 out if warranty so I call shenanigans on this thread and another attempt at apple bashing.

How do you know the fault is with Apple? Have you complained to Axminster that their carpet is too hard?

    Hi,
She was told that it would cost £300 for a replacement

I thought this sound like a lot so I searched google for iPhone screen repairs for the 5th one and it seems that on this site its almost at the £300 mark too!

We have been disappointed by Apple several times in the last few months as recently found out the Apple Ipad 3 which we also purchased earlier this year is not compatible with UK 4G networks.

How can you blame Apple for that, when the iPad 3 was released there was no 4G network operating in the UK. There is still no 4G network until the end of this month. Ofcom hadn't even given EE the go ahead back in March, so you can't blame Apple for not supporting something that might not have even happened.

It wouldn't suprise me if Apple created an iPhone that isn't as robust as previous models. Every time they release a new model people end up sticking to their current model rather than upgrading as their phone is still in good condition... I know loads of people who are doing this. Designing a phone that picks up scratches easily, cracks easily etc is enough of a change to result in a large increase in the percentage of iPhones that don't make it to the 2 year mark... Resulting in a higher level of upgrades at a later stage.

I'm not saying this is happening, just that it wouldn't suprise me... Considering the 3GS iOS 5 update did nothing more than massively slow down around 50% of 3GS's around pushing people to upgrade.

At least it isn't a light plastic :/

...and in a bigger number of out of warranty repairs that cost more and more regardless of how minor the damage is. For iP5 it already costs 50% more than for iP3.
    Nice extra income.

Do you not have some kind of insurance from the credit card you used to buy it? I know that my American Express card insures goods for a certain number of days after purchase for example, and other card issuers provide similar benefits.

Yes good point and also we hadn't had time to register the phone for the banks mobile phone insurance
