I would probably presume that it could be hung just like any normal paper that it needed no special treatment.

So whatever happened to the common sense approach.....

    If in doubt ASK......

Now it seems that unless people are nannied through everything in life, that they scream like a baby when it goes wrong and want things replaced for free. Even when its their fault....

Perhaps they don't give instructions for a reason.

Slowhand let's just go with the wallpaper.
Do you think that it would be a problem if they printed basic instructions on the roll even if it's only " This paper needs to be trimmed..Would that not be useful information for your average customer.
Of course everyday items do not need instructions unless they need to be used in a special way.

So are you still sticking with your opinion, that the fault soley lies with the manufacturer and retailer, not the actual person, who hung the wallpaper? Does he not have any responsibility to ensure he has had previous experience in hanging this type of paper?

If so, then you would also say ,as in a previous analogy, that if a builder used the wrong sort of bricks, or put them upside down, then if a fault was found, it would be the brick makers fault and not the builder?

If so, then IMO you seem to be the type of person, who does not take any responsiblity for anything they have done wrong, it is always someone elses fault.

Ran over a child.... not my fault, he shouldn't have been on the pavement, who is going to pay for the damage to my car !

People need to take responsibility for their own actions and stop blaming others. It was a commercial wallpaper, with specific ways to hang. It is also not widely available to the general public to buy. Have a look on youtube for videos on how to hang it. Any one in their right mind wouldn't attempt it. The fault lies on the decorator and partly the OP, as neither have asked if any different to hanging normal paper, it appears. The necessity to supply instructions does not come into it, when it is mainly sold to commercial people, to be used in commercial settings and fitted by commercial decorators, or the manufacturers own qualified staff.

Asking a run of the mill decorator to hang £900 wallpaper is being silly. A already said, ' pay peanuts....get monkeys'

Women have given birth since day one but we still have a midwife telling them when to push.
Can we now please quit with the analogies lol

Yes some things do come without instructions but the vast majority of stuff tells you what it is.

Why do you keep comparing hanging wallpaper with possible life threatening scenarios?

A midwife is not needed. But having medical professionals at hand in such a situation could be the difference between life and death - for mother, child or both.

You'll find that around here (certainly can't speak for the whole UK), the midwife will allow the mother to be in control of pushing and will only intervene if its becoming prolonged or showing signs of complications. Why you ask? Because being told to push and pushing before your body is ready can lead to problems after the birth of your baby.

How would someone know it is that type of paper without being informed?

I lot of professional items do no carry instructions (beyond the legal safety warnings) because they are supplied purely to trade. People who have trained for years are more than happy to see some over confident amateur screw up as they can then make twice as much putting it right.

    By using your eyes.

As I said in a previous post, this type of paper usually has marks at the edges or is not printed right up to the edge - hence the necessity for trimming. I also forgot to add that it is wider than "normal" paper. So it should be visibly different even at a glance.

However its clear the OP knew it wasnt "normal" paper as they have referred to it specifically as "commercial". So not sure why the subject is even being questioned.

...It used to be routine at one time to have to trim wallpapers, but I would imagine most decorators with this kind of experience are approaching retirement, or already retired, if they are even still alive...
