A pack-up breakfast?

Big box of cereal. Get 2-3 different flavours/choices. I do eat cereal dry though.

why traditional breakfast food? why not ham rolls? or cheese rolls?
actually if they are not staying for breakfast would the hotel do a Takeaway breakfast for them? (presuming that they paid B&B rates?)0 -
Will they have access to a kettle? My OH stays away quite frequently and he loves those 'porridge pots' you can get from the supermarket, that you just add hot water to. I know they're usually on offer in Sainsbury's and I'd imagine you can get them cheap in other supermarkets too.0

Get Scotch eggs if they like those; very portable and filling.
Another option would be arancini if you have an Italian deli near you - they are basically deep fried risotto balls with different fillings, which again would keep you going for a long time. I have also tried to make bacon and egg versions before, which came out OK and which you could try to make too if you are feeling brave.0 -
So this is how super-organised people live!

Why don't you just give them a bag or two of brioches or pain au chocolat, like the Pasquier ones you can find in supermarkets? They keep well. Not super healthy, but they'll be on holidays...0 -

Is the hotel on the first night in France or Belgium? If so, they're used to people leaving early and are usually very good at doing take-away breakfast before the breakfast room opens, especially any of the Accor group hotel or Holiday Inn Express. I've found Etap to be the best.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

is the event abroad some type of military training? just relax and get your partner to stop off for breakfast on the way. there's got to be some enjoyment surely?0

We are a 4 hr drive to an overseas crossing and that's without additional traffic on a Friday pm, so I need food items that will still be ok the following morning. The hotel is basic with no fridge and no kettle as it's purely to provide an inexpensive nights sleep before travelling to the main event, so I doubt they'll provide a take-away breakfast. I am likely to be working full-time thru-out November, possibly even in late October, so I am trying to be as organised as I can whilst in-between jobs. Do the toasties and cheese need to kept refrigerated to whoever suggested them?0

Fruit juice in cartons you could freeze some of them and put them in the bags to keep other things cold?
