I then got a call , after explaining how disgusting I thought it was they offered £25 credit and half price broadband for a year.
I wrote him an email today around 1pm. They called me back around 7pm. Basically saying that there is nothing they can do. They have no offers to make me or any other old or new customer.:(0 -
Not really. BT own the copper-line network, they set the wholesale prices for other ISPs such as Sky, TalkTalk, Plusnet, etc.
So the fact BT has hiked their rental up, means they have advised all of their resellers that their costs will go up also. Sky will not absorb the increase will they? They are a business.
BT Wholesale prices for line rental is falling year on year, Ofcom enforced, more so with LLU exchanges like Sky has they pay BT Wholesale less.

It's a case of greedy companies following each other, its a cartel.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -
So your happy to tie them in with a company with a bad track record on customer service for 18 months then on a auto renewing contract.
They could get a deal for broadband bolted onto Primus Line Rental, cheaper than Sky now. Or anyone not using landline calling & wanting to reduce costs in general. I certainly would not recommend Primus call rates, but...Primus allow calls via shortcodesso you can use MSE Callchecker and bolt on a standalone broadband deal cheaper than what Sky is at £24.50.
Martin/MSE/Primus £7.49 deal here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/phones/home-phone-calls
I dont use my landline, its a broadband connection outlet, my mobile has unlimited landlines so Primus does the job for people in my family/friends senario if they get a good standalone broadband deal for thier needs.
Difference between £24.50 to Sky and Primus £7.49 leaves £17.01 to play with for a broadband provider & a few current great standalone unlimited broadband deals for Primus line rental are:
BE Value 10MBPS (Unlimited & half price 12 months) £8.50
BE Unlimited 16 MBPS (12 1/2 price again) £11.00
Orange 14MBPS Simply Broadband £13.50 (Unlimited)
02 (2 year+ mobile customers) All rounder 16MBPS Unlimited £12.50 (optional £30.63 set up fee for 30 day commitment which given how market changes is a great deal or no fee for 12 month contract)
Fibre:
Plusnet 40GB usage, 38MBPS, £16.99 works out almost same price for Sky for low users, for 2p less

I have never found a bundled deal with broadband & line rental that cant be beaten & thats before any cashback
Two family members are going BE, then in 12 months they will have been o2 customers for two years, other is going Orange for long term tie in & advantage of EE 4G discount (I've warned them about the latest Orange/EE fiasco), so all in Primus is a good deal as Orange has unlimited landlines on contract & the other o2's are on the £26 unlimited calls/texts plan.
Sadly (for Sky) they all joined Sky on the offer of 6 months free broadband under 2 months ago & all got £100 cashback so they are all quids in so its cost Sky £75 x3 for 2 months of Sky broadband, what a waste of all your monthly TV subscription costs LOL
Remember if you like one of the standalone deals I posted above to check what cashback is available on MSE Cashback Checker:

Good luck in reducing your costs everyoneSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -
I can never understand people who will not do the sensible thing and opt for BT's free evening and weekend scheme and then use 1899 for daytime calls. The rates for calls charged per minute (plus connexion) by Sky and BT are absurd.0

There are offers as my mum rang and got to pay her line rental upfront so £120 a year also the agent gave her multiroom free for 12 months with free sky + hd box and free set up. On the phone my mum said she didn't want to subsidise sports as she read in the newspapers and there attitude changed after that.0

Would be very interested in anyone's feedback on Sky's responses to cancelling the full package.
I'm looking to cancel the full package, and then go get a full new contract either with Sky or split across other companies
Sky Entertainment Extra + HD : £36.75 a month
Plusnet Fibre Extra : £20 a month
Prime Landline: £7.99 a month
£ 64.74 a month.0 -
Why would you cancel with Sky then take out a new contract? Just cancel/downgrade the bits you don't want.
Sky's response to me calling and cancelling was to give me line rental at £3 per month for 12 months.0 -

I have just rung up saying i have received the letter and i am not happy would be looking to cancel under the terms and conditions and she told me that its not true and i would still have an early termination charge. Any advice??
i also took out offers in may ,but the contract states 10% MAX INCREASE ,you can cancel without any charge even though sky customer services try and tell you otherwise ,just tell them they have broke there terms and conditions and you have the right to cancel without charge .they then put you through to retention's ,i told them i was transferring to talk talk at £114 for 12 months and £3.50 for b/b ,they offered me 12 months line rental ,b/b and unlimited calls anytime fore a total of £15 a month for 12 months ,hope they put this kind of rise on every year !!:j0 -
In June I signed up for what I thought was a year's fixed payment contract.
I had calculated that for the first 6 months my line rental and broadband would be £12.25 - the broadband being free. Thereafter, the broadband charges would kick-in increasing my monthly payment to £22.25/ month excluding additional call costs.
Sky have now sent a letter telling me that as from this month, so only 5 months into my agreement they are raising the line rental charge by £2.25 thus making my monthly payment now £14.50 and then after that £24.50 / month.
Sky says there's nothing they can do about it and they're very sorry. Yeh right!
i to took out the same deal ,all you have to do is be strong and tell them they are breaking their t&cs, their max increase is 10% they have increased by 18% ,you will not have to pay an early termination fee even though customer services will tell you otherwise ,they then transfer you to retention's who will try and tell you you are in a 12 month contract ,tell them rollocks ,they have broke their t&cs ,i am leaving and going to talktalk for £114 a year (9.50 a month) ,they offered me half price line rental for 6 months , i refused they then offered me 12 months line rental ,b/b ,and talk unlimited for £15 a month for 12 month ,RESULT:rotfl::rotfl::beer:0 -
For anyone that is interested i rang sky on wednesday and said i was not happy with the price increase, was told i could not cancel as was still in contract - even though it says on skys own website i can. I have line rental and broadband unlimited only. Phoned up talktalk who are offering a better deal explained about sky increasing prices, what can i do and the lady told me to call sky back and tell them to release me from my contract, but keep my services running (not to cancel the line otherwise would have to pay for a new connection) and put a note on my account to say i have called and want to change provider because of the price increase etc etc and that it says on their own website i am free to do so if i wish. Went and signed up with talktalk on their website that afternoon, go live on 1st nov and have received a sorry you're r leaving letter from sky!0
