but got organic bananas
onions
the deli said the meat in sausages was organic but not filler.
got free range bacon not sure organic or not from local farm
reduced so organic bread.
got free range chicken-made 10meals.
spent £10 of last weeks food budget not in supermarket and couple quid on market stall veg.
noticed quite a few offers on fair trade as fair trade fortnight in co-op and sainsburys.
interesting fact last month dod ocado order.

Thank you all for the kind thoughts. xx
gailey your OH has good taste as Daylesford tastes fantastic. Besides Ocado, the farm supplies Claridge's. That sounds expensive, but actually some of the organic chicken joints in Sainsbury's are more expensive !
Abel & Cole (minimum order £10, delivery 99p) does Laverstoke Park Farm organic lamb bones 1kg for 1.99 and Laverstoke Park Farm organic beef bones 1kg for 1.99 which are great for making stock, soup and stew. You can also get an organic chicken carcass with neck and giblets 1kg average, for 1.99 or free range for 1.50
A 1kg pack (average 10) of free range chicken wings cost 1.99 and organic free range 2.09. Four organic chicken drumsticks (500g) costs 2.99. Two free range chicken legs (500g) 2.60. 1kg free range chicken drumsticks (average 8) 4.79
Organic scrag of lamb 640g 3.99, bone-in organic lamb shank 400g avrg 4.99, organic lamb's liver 300g 3.20, 4 organic lamb's kidneys 3.99
Whole wild pigeon 250g 2.69, wild venison sausages 500g (6) 3.70, wild venison shank 400g min 3.99
500g free range pork mince 2.99, 500g 5% fat beef mince 3.99
Free range pork sausages 400g (6) on offer 1.89, 2 free range pork escalopes 325g on offer 2.47, Laverstoke Park Farm pork chipolata sausages (12) 340g on offer 3.14, 4 free range pork belly slices 500g 2.99, free range diced pork 500g 3.99, 1kg avrg boned and rolled free range pork shoulder 4.75, 200g organic unsmoked lardons 2.59, Laverstoke Park Farm organic black pudding 2.42
So those ^ are some of the cheaper cuts. I have found that organic meat and poultry in Tesco wasn't good quality and Sainsbury's can be a bit hit and miss too. The lamb chops are generally good but steaks can be chewy and that goes for mince and diced beef too - but this might be okay for a slow cooker.
Lidl has organic carrots, milk (you will find better milk on offer elsewhere), bananas (cheapest) onions (cheapest) Farmhouse Cheddar (really nice) and Heinz organic biscotti (cheapest). On offer from Thursday are Rachel's 350g Greek honey and raspberry yogurt 99p each.
ASDA is cheapest for organic olive oil (2.48 250g) and tinned tomatoes (75p). If you have a local ASDA then you may find meat there and veg. When I've found veg, it's been pretty good and very reasonably priced.
Sainsbury's has quite a range of organic stuff in bigger stores, you can get a loaf for £1, 4 rolls for £1, butter, milk, yogurt, veg and salad, cheese, meat, poultry, cornflakes, porridge even digestive biscuits.
hope that helps0 -
Organic
Rachel's organic bio-live low fat raspberry/Greek style honey yogurt 350g 99p
Wild
Admiral frozen clams, hand-harvested in Pacific ocean 1kg 2.99
Deluxe frozen whole cooked lobster 5.99 (usually Canadian)
Additive-free (should be but please check)
New Covent Garden Soup Co leek and potato soup 600g 99p
New Covent Garden Soup Co baked potato with cheese and beans soup 600g 99p0 -
I'm not up to date on the groceries threads (gone back to comping in my spare time and have a backlog..) but just quick note to say:
Wilkos - Ecover Fabric Conditioner - Under the Sun 750 ml - now priced at £1.25. This is a 'permanent' shelf edge price, it's not showing as a reduced price as such, but it is normally around £1.86 ish in there although their price fluctuates quite a bit.
Oh and both Riverford and A&C were excellent last week (love A&C's chilled box the items come in) and the free cookbook offer from A&C is well worth getting.0 -
Got my Abel & Cole order .. eggs, milk, yogurt, cheeses on offer, carrots, sweet peppers.. and a free flapjack for OH
Didn't notice any offer for cookbook will investigate, thanks Kirri. . Riverford has some on offer though with up to 40% off
Do organic companies do competitions ? Only ever seen them on Yeo Valley website.0 -

I can't remember where I got the A&C code from, but got the Veg Box Companion book free and think it also has 4th box free with same code. Really useable book.
Yep they certainly do but not so many about (though I enter for all sorts) - I've so far won only a few organic items though - a Riverford hamper, Green People skincare, Pukka tea hamper, Visionary Soap and Natracare products0 -

I can't afford it either.
I'm presently working on meat being free range and fish wild as much as possible, some from the butcher, also Aldi free range whole chicken (£3.40 a kilo). Amount of bone waste in different cuts of meat if you don't use it all up in stock

Looking at Ocado free range pork mince (£6.60 a kilo) because it's lean and a couple of quid a kilo cheaper than Tesco regular lean pork mince. It's quite easy to find 400g cans of wild canned oily fish for cheap - pilchards, mackerel (BTM brand Home Bargains), salmon. Fresh wild sardines or mackerel can be well priced too.
http://www.glenryck.co.uk/pages/pilchards.htm
I read here that Ocado vegetable boxes are the most packed. Ocado/ Waitrose also have a few basic frozen organic vegetables - spinach £2.80 a kilo, sweetcorn £3 a kilo, broccoli £4 a kilo. Asda organic whole red cabbage £1.70 a kilo and most of us don't eat enough from the purple family of fruit and veggies. Although you could aim just to go organic for the produce that is most likely to be contaminated, and actually cabbage is one of the better ones.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
I buy organic because it's not just pesticides, herbicides and fungicides which are a problem.

Bought 2 pots of organic houmous 200g on offer in Tesco - 2 for £1.70. The non- organic is the same price but have slightly more in pack 211g.
Haven't eaten it yet so don't know what it tastes like.:)A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step
