Edwardia sorry to hear about your labrador, so sad but what about adopting a rescue dog to fill the space left by your departed doggy friend ?
Big hugs to you.
Update on my Riverford order.
All arrived on Friday, lovely delivery man and follow up call later. Veggies looked great as did the pasties and tarts. The milk however was a disappointment unfortunately. I had checked with cs and been assured that all their milk was unhomogenised because it wasn't totally clear on the website, but if your delivery area is served by Acorn dairy then it comes homogenisedWhen I rang cs they were most apologetic and credited me for it immediately.
I managed to pick up an organic leg of lamb on Friday when I popped into Sainsburys to get the lotto tickets. (oh says it's impossible for me to go in and come out with only what I've gone in for) Well it was on special offer and then reduced and British so how could I resist
£16.00 instead of £28.45. Still pricey I Know, but such a treat and will do us for quite a few meals. Cooked it on Friday night as we had a friend to dinner who incidently bought an organic red wine left over from Christmas which went down a treat but have no idea where it came from. Cooked the Riverford carrots, swede, parsnips and potatoes, all were delicious but everyone thought the roast parsnips were the best tasting ever. Also served Waitrose organic frozen peas (the only veg I ever have thats frozen). The lamb was also voted the best ever
and made a change from the laverstock pork that I have cooked for the last four roasts (as its on offer at Ocado).
Yesterday we tried the pasties and they were very nice, but needed more pepper, will definitely be getting them again. Very filling and maybe we'll share one next time.
So overall very happy with Riverford and looking forward to using them more.
Update on Able and Cole pies. Didn't think much to the chicken and leek pie. Again like the steak I found it dry and a bit lacking in flavour and at £3.65 won't be buying again. The pork pie was ok but lacked seasoning and not worth £2.95 imo.
Organic wine is on offer at Ocado and I have a bottle of red on order £8.15 down to £5.43. I've had various organic reds when on offer and never had one I didn't like (and I am a bit of a fusspot:rotfl:)
Right oh is baking bread so off to see how he's doing and assist with washing up.0 -

rufydoofyM great review :T and well done on the YS lamb, I've never found so much as a reduced pack of organic mince, just veg
I've had the Riverford milk and while UNhomogenised it's not a patch on Abel & Cole milk. I like the Calon Wen unhomogenised but though it's supposedly sold in Sainsbury's etc I've only been able to get it from Ocado.
I may think about taking on another dog in the future, but not right now. To add to my woes, we have discovered that while I was in Sainsbos yesterday my handbag was pickpocketed on my shoulder and my BlackBery Curve and OH's driving licence are gone. I think it happened while I was in the queue clutching purse-wallet and they were loose in bag on my shoulder.
In order to get new photocard driving licence he will have to fork out for a new passport first so will cost over £100 in all. EE (T-Mobile) were brilliant as usual, sending new SIM free of charge by courier tomorrow for me to put in my spare BlackBerry Curve. Luckily I had uploaded all my photos to laptop Friday. Stolen phone now blacklisted so will be dead as a dodo.
Anyway.. please be vigilant in supermarkets !0 -

Kids organic moose pasta in cheesy sauce 99p in the cafe. They also offer organic baby foods and kids eat free Mon-Fri 4pm-8pm0 -
Edwardia what a weekend you are having . Such a nightmare. It made me think, I often get distracted at the till, with chatting and unloading/packing etc that it could so easily happen to me. I shall be more vigilant in future.
I never seem to have any luck with reduced organic veg but get lucky with organic meat every week or two. I think most people see it reduced next to non organic and still think its to expensive. I only went in for lotto tkts, but couldn't resist a quick scout round the reduced sections. Makes shopping more fun when you find a bargain:D0 -

I must lead a sheltered life, as I had NO idea that Ikea sold food.
There is one not far from where I live. Perhaps I'll pay it a visit one of these days.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -

Had to take my beloved labrador to the vet yesterday to be put down. I worked out he cost us about £4 a week to keep - best money I've ever spent. It might sound strange but I want to use the money that we will save to buy something special.. yeah on £4 pw !
This morning it came to me.. President organic butter 2.99 per packet. I'd rather have my dawg x a million but as he's gone and as we do a DD to Battersea Dog's Home anyway, President organic butter.

Thanks for all the kind thoughts, yup I had a terrible weekend all round. I hope my lab had a good life. We live opposite a big park, he loved going on the train to visit my mother and romping around in the country and it's horrible without him, I feel like I lost my best friend. He was the happiest dog and everybody loved him, he bounced about full of energy until recently. He loved meeting new people and going places - he even went to uni with me sometimes.
My mother's not having a good weekend either. She insisted on saying goodbye to dawg and then one of her freezers packed up today which was stuffed to the gills.
Quasar don't feel embarrassed re: IKEA, I didn't know they did any organic food and I've never visited one.
rufydoofyM you made me chuckle: " I only went in for lotto tickets".0 -
