Bought some organic porridge oats yesterday at T's and thought it a fair deal:
342 on 750g bags at £1.59. It's a 2012 taste award winner too.

Mojisola hi there nice to see you posting here
jenniewb - good points. Waitrose and Ocado sell organic frozen garden peas, petit pois and mixed veg. Sainsbury's sells organic garden peas. Apart from that, don't know anywhere else that sells organic frozen veg or fruit.
Ardo has a big range of frozen organic veg and IIRC herbs too. However they seem only to sell to caterers. If anyone sees them anywhere please post. I did put in a product request to Ocado.
Fish and seafood - personally not seen organic farmed seafood. There's a wholesaler fairly near us which supplies seafood to lots of pubs and persuasive OH bought a kilo of wild North Atlantic prawns for £6 from them and they are lush.
Have bought organic farmed salmon fillets 2 for £4 from ASDA recently. Also seen organic farmed brown trout at Waitrose but nothing else. Anyone else seen any ? Kirri, how about your M&S ?
Ocado stocks organic hams from Houghton Hams, Golfera, Duchy Originals from Waitrose and the Houghton and Golfera stuff have 10% off at the moment. At least some of these contain nitrates however.
OH and I buy prosciutto di Parma (with the gold crown) which is produced in the traditional way, without additives and costs 1.99 at Lidl. If it works out at the same price per 100g I may try the ASDA Extra Special prosciutto di Parma with Leith's School of Food and Wine.
One thing I fancy trying is organic lamb ham, from https://www.willowbrookorganic.org which is 4.80 for 150g though
Er, TBH I don't see how soil mould grown with glucose and vitamins in silos, could ever be given organic status.
Fire Fox - Natoora used to have a lot of unusual veg from France, some of which was organic. In 2007 the Natoora UK operation merged with the Portabello Food Company and now there's nothing organic on https://www.natoora.co.uk other than herbs and spices from Steenbergs.
Purple carrots aren't purple all the way through
Putting any food on offer and making the supplier pay for it seems extremely dodgy to me.0 -

All the supermarket special offers are paid for by the supplier.
The suppliers are told - we're running a promotion on your product so, for that period, you will be paid less for it. If the suppliers don't agree, the supermarkets can drop their products permanently.0 -
Waitrose (and Ocado) have organic frozen spinach, IIRC regular spinach is one of the most contaminated so I will be getting that.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

When I did a one day Middle Eastern cookery class with my mother last month, I bought bagged organic young spinach from Sainsbury's the night before. Opened to do borani esfanaj and although it was supposed to be prewashed, it was muddy.0

Wholefoods stock organic frozen veg; I have sweetcorn and peas in my freezer from there but I know they do other things as well.0

alfsmum you and Quasar both shop in Whole Foods and I'm just green with envy. I've asked if they are going to do mail order and they said maybe.

Hello all
I am just wondering if any of you know where sells organic pitta bread? I have no Waitrose near me, and google tells me I can buy from there. I looked in Sainsburys today and couldn't find any, nor have I ever seen any in the usual Tesco, Asda etc. I am thinking I might not have any luck with the usual supermarkets.
Many thanks in advance0 -
stacey44156 - welcome to the thread.
I did some digging..so alphabetically..
Abel & Cole www.abelandcole.co.uk minimum order £10 delivery 99p does Newbury Phillips 8 mini wholemeal organic pitta bread 380g 1.44 and Newbury Phillips 6 large white organic pitta bread 380g 1.44 which seems waay too expensive to me.
ASDA www.asda.com nothing organic but ASDA 6 wholemeal pittas 70p currently 2 for £1. No artificial flavours, colours, preservatives, transfats and flame baked but may contain GM wheat.
Ocado www.ocado.com minimum order £40 does Waitrose 6 brown organic pitta bread for 79p
Riverford Organics www.riverford.co.uk minimum order 12.50 free delivery does organic bread but what you can buy depends which local/regional baker they use. You need to put your postode in at the bakery page to find out.
Sainsbury's www.sainsburys.co.uk doesn't have organic pitta bread. I did spot Hollyland 6 wholemeal or white pitta breads for 69p however. Made by a specialist pitta bakery in Tottenham, I have seen these in ethnic shops in London. No GM, animal fats, artificial flavourings, colourings, or transfats. Does have calcium proprionate as a preservative however.
Tesco www.tesco.com doesn't do organic pitta bread and the free from pittas cost £2 and have loads of additives !
Waitrose www.waitrose.com £50 minimum order free delivery has the same Waitrose 6 brown organic pitta bread 69p
I found completely additive free wholemeal or white pittas from Eghoyans Bakery in London, which although not organic are made without GM ingredients, animal fats or transfats by a specialist pitta bakery since 1925. Shorters Club www.shortersclub.co.uk minimum order £40 delivery 3.99 sells a pack of 6 for 60p and a pack of 10 x 6 pittas ie 60 pittas for 5.41. These are what I buy for OH and freeze.
Hopefully someone else can let you know whether Marks & Spencer or Morrisons have organic pitta, I have no idea.0 -
WOW thank you so much for all that info. Think I'll have to go with Riverford or Able&Cole as I can't really order from Ocado or Waitrose, as I would never order enough to go above the minimum delivery. Hadn't thought of trying Marks and Spencers so may walk down there this weekend. Many thanks, am very excited to continue reading (and hopefully contributing) to this forum.0
