    Ooh what did you order?

Have to say I've absolutely loved every item in the hamper.
Was going to order a veg box from them last week but I couldn't decide what one to get and missed the cut off.

    I ordered:

The Riverford cook book as mentioned, a vegetable scrubber, a cotton bag, 2 ham and leek pies, 2 Homity pies, a Flour Power pain de campagne loaf, mushrooms, fennel, cherry tomatoes and hummus.

Not a big order will see how it goes.

Ocado rang a couple of hours ago to say that my shopping will be late because the van got stuck in snow down a country lane somewhere else. :(

Wondering whether Abel & Cole will turn up tomorrow. No eggs or bacon, hardly any veg left. OH walked to Sainsbos and managed to get organic milk albeit 1% stuff.

Does everyone like riverford as took a look but seemed pricier than able and cole and freind said their boxes either too big or too small.

    I need organic advice on

    bread/flour

as read they put all sorts of nasties in bread.

if brought ready made organic would it have nothing added?

or is it best to buy organic flour and make my own-not adverse to doing.

Also had muppet moment this afternoon.

My husband thinks lost the plot!

we have stuff in freezer-7packs sausages I dont eat sausages.
mince, few ready meals from tesco that were reduced at xmas don't fancy touching hubby,s not bothered.

So we had onions but didet think we had any stock.

so brought some oxo from garage.

was cooking the soup the read the ingrediants didet like what i read.

I told hubby wanted pure clean foods

Luckily had some baby veg organic cubes in back cupboard that I used,

whats the best stock? mines from boots.

    cereals-is it worth going organic.

    my fave are

    special red berries
    rice krispies
    weetabix

but then worried they add crap to cereal too.

    Are kellogs ok?

squash-do they do a natural organic fruit squash ?
    or should I dilute juice?

maybe I am a paranoid loon but really want huge changes this year starting with me then work on the family.

Hubbys whinging he wants to shift a few pounds.

I don't buy cereals, have the odd box if free but all really sugary.

Squash - don't have it often but I like Rock's organic, very concentrated, don't need to use much at all. Often on offer on Ocado. I think most of the supermarket stocked brands have sweeteners.

Or for breakfast I have fruit juice and use it like squash topped with water so last ages (far too sweet to have a glass neat).

Bread - Morrisons surprisingly had a good ready made organic loaf. Had breadmaker for quite a few years now. Currently using Shipton Mill and Marriage's flour. Have tried quite a lot of others ie Morrisons, Bacheldre, Waitrose, Wessex Mill, Dove's Farm. Search for the Real Bread Campaign online, may find some local bakers who make real bread :D

Great book on Amazon for £4 ish - 'Fresh Bread in the morning' excellent easy recipes with good ingredients.

Stock - I like Marigold organic.

Organic food will probably include a lot of brands you are not familiar with/a lot of good ones are not necessarily stocked in supermarkets. Also worth trying independent health shops, online stockists, organic supermarkets as much better choice.

Edwardia, I may try and get a Riverford veg box in next couple of weeks to see.

Weren't Ocado the only delivery service last year advertising how snow ready their vehicles were?!

Respect organic carrot cake on offer, had price alert earlier, if anyone wants 3 cakes that is...

gailey, I don't eat bread myself or cereals. OH is a bread fiend and I by him the expensive artisanal stuff at weekends so not best person to ask. OH has organic Weetabix (24s) cheapest place for them is Sainsbury's.

Stock - make my own beef and lamb stock using bones from Laverstoke Park Farm, 1.99 for 1kg from Abel & Cole. Use Kallo stock cubes (stock up on offer usually cheapest ASDA) not tried the Boots baby ones, waiting for Boots to tell me if certified organic. Heinz baby ones horrendously expensive.

Respect Organic carrot cake 1.80 well gorgeous Sainsbury's, Tesco, ASDA - where's the offer kirri ? I reckon they would freeze OK and OH and mother lurve them.

Holland and Barrett does free delivery over £20 online and you can get a loyalty card to use instore but not cheapest place. Independent ones probably cheaper like Kirri sez.

ASDA cheap for tinned organic beans and tinned tomatoes 65p

Kirri didn't see the ad but UK not like Canada when you know you'll have it for three months.
