It being Organic September I saved over £26 on my Ocado order
Saved over £7 on Holland & Barrett order because of BOGOHP. Plus if you buy three Neal's Yard Wholefoods products you get double points on reward card.. and, website is offering free delivery at the moment without a minimum spend.
So although I spent 85.74 Ocado, 21.28 Holland & Barrett 19.45 Fortnum & Mason 20.22 Abel & Cole this week I saved 34.10 too which more than pays for the Xmas pud from F&M.0 -
Hi all
I've flirted with organic on more than one occasion but I have now been diagnosed with Graves Disease and the advice in many places is to go organic and much as possible.
Tried my first shop at Tesco today and it was irritating. They don't have a great deal but I bought what I could. I'm going to have to research a bit more and find other local options - my head is spinning.0 -
^ I find Ocado/Abel & Cole online and in store shops at Wholefoods, Waitrose (if I'm passing) and a local org indie shop give me everything I need. I like having all the fruit and veg delivered weekly (usually from A&C) and then Ocado once or twice a month makes things easy. Ocado have one of the biggest ranges for alternative ways of eating from the 'supermarkets'.
Most of the normal supermarkets are just frustrating as they only have the bare basics. Some are a lot worse than others.. I just can't be bothered with them.0 -
I'll check Ocado and Abel and Cole out. Maybe Gilly still has a spare code? Unlikely as it was a few days ago.
I need to find out what is in my town - I don't think a lot.
Tesco is next door to me. Looked online at Sainsburys and they have a bit. Morrisons is a poor website but may walk down their when I have the energy.
Iceland were once going organic, but not appeared to happened. May see what they do have, but our one is small.0 -
Sainsbury's have a good basic range. They were one of the best years ago when I first went org over a decade ago. I don't find it that inspiring though but you'll get the common stuff there easily. Prices fairly good or were on stuff like pasta etc.
Morrisons are absolutely terrible, I wouldn't bother with the effort to go there! They only ever had a tiny range and they then stopped doing some of the range they used to have. Also very small org veg.
Asda fairly poor - again very little org veg. Few basic foods but not worth the effort in going there for what they have.
Waitrose stores - obviously great quality stuff but the smaller stores tend not to stock org stuff so need to go to the larger stores.
I never use Tesco though when things are on offer ie Ecover , they always seem cheap.
Haven't been in Iceland for about 20 years but guessing if you are going to a more org diet you'll probably also want more of a fresh diet too.
M&S very small range but have increased a few things recently. I'd struggle to find enough for 1 dinner in there though in org. Barely any fruit/veg in org as well.
Ocado usually have deals for newbies, min order of £40 and cheapest delivery slots at that amount are £2.99 ish but as a new user the delivery slots come up cheaper.. Can sometimes get a zero delivery charge even at £40.
It's much easier to order online than try and get everything you'll want in the high street.
Abel & cole also do a large amount of fridge and cupboard stuff now, quite a good range. A&C and Riverford will all have introductory offers floating around.0 -
I just typed out a long reply and it said my message was too short and deleted all that I had typed!
The jist of it - thanks for the reply, i'm taking on board all of your thoughts/recommendations.
Not a lot in my local area but will continue to look.
Been to Tesco twice today and left angry and frustrated. It appears they think we are all the same.0 -
Please is anyone able to let me know if these cornflakes are GM? I can't tolerate the Dove Farm ones as they seem to have some sort of barley syrup preservative. Also Natures Path cereals are good but full of sugar
Any help appreciated.0 -
Anyone who buys from Riverford and is anti hunting may want to have a read of what's going on on Facebook on both the Riverford page and the Devon Hunt Sabs page particularly concerning Riverford dairy. Obviously as this is a shopping thread, it's not an argument to get into on here but for anyone interested in ethical shopping this may be something some are interested in reading more about.
Miroslav - how have you been getting on with your org shopping, has it got any easier? I had all mine delivered to the door by Ocado/A&C yesterday.
Edwardia - Goodlife products delisted at Ocado!0 -
I wish Riverford/Abel&Cole delivered to my area, it's a long way off ever happening though.
I had to stop our local organic veg box because the quality went downhill and we were getting the same things over and over, most of which weren't all that fresh.
I'm finding a lot of organic veg from supermarkets disappointing, spending a fortune on 3 onions, 1 of which is rotten when you open them anyway... yet a bag of value onions costs half and much and you get 3 times more.
Maybe it'll improve more with time? I hope so anyway as it's proving quite hard, and really expensive to even attempt to go/stay organic.0
