Article on organic sales growth, a lot of the comments after are interesting but the ones against are coming out with the same bizarre arguments for not eating organic :rotfl:

Thanks for the link. Many of the comments are similar to the same sort of arguments you see on a Daily Fail article. Good to see there's been an increase in organic sales though but I hate the term they use that organic food is back in vogue. Sends out all the wrong messages...as usual!

Start my new job today, eeeeeeeeeeeeek! lol. Kirri my memory might be getting rusty but did you say you were currently trying to find work on a previous post? If so hows that going.

Yep, good in some ways, even though it should be the norm, but concerned that the major supermarkets will see it as a money making thing and just exploit it. I still won't go back to the supermarkets even if choice is improved.

The comments were the usual cliched ones! The cost level always comes into it, but I doubt those people would buy it even if they could afford it.

Good luck at your first day :T Exciting but I dread first days!! Yes I'm still looking with no luck, I've seen a job I would really love and fits with my interest in this area but job searching feels virtually impossible to get a look in if you're not already working (despite your eventual luck!).

I did see a job that came with a free lunch this week but that would be my worst nightmare, being fed with non org (probably cheaply sourced low quality) food each day!!

Anyone know if Riverford have any current promotional codes for new customers? :)
  • Hi all,

I'm pretty new to organic eating, only became converted after reading a healthy eating book this January, although I had been buying organic veg and meat for my toddler before.

Unfortunately the closest shop we have is Tesco and they rarely have organic fruit and veg, not to mention meat. We do have Waitrose ca 20-25min away so will try to organise weekly/bi-weekly trips there.

I will be following this thread with interest hoping I can learn something from you all.

I think I will try the mascara Kirri.

Edwardia about mineral water, how much do you pay for Evian?

I think I am going to start drinking more bottled water, my flatmate has a medical condition to do with her digestive system and she says she cannot tolerate tap water.

I noticed the Evian 2lt bottles at 2 for £1.50 in Tesco yesterday but none in stock. But got some today from a different Tesco Express, i must have more than 10 of them within reasonable walking distance. If only there could be a Waitrose within walking distance, just one.

^ Asda had the Evian mini bottles 12 packs of 330ml on offer last week. Good for handbag sized use.

I get the Highland Spring 1.5L 6 packs for me/pets for home use - offers cycle round quite a bit. I either get it from Ocado or the milkman.

soph generally I get 2 x 6 packs of 500ml bottles for £4 from Ocado on the SmartPass deal. The bigger sizes are cheaper than that though. I find a big bottle too daunting to chug.

Once the European tennis and F1 circuits gets underway around May there will be loads of offers as Evian is a major sponsor for both.

silly moo, Abel & Cole and Riverford have a 12.50 minimum order (£25 for meat with Riverford), delivery is 99p with A&C, free from Riverford. Waitrose has a £50 minimum order with free delivery. Ocado does a £40 minimum order, you get 10% off the organic veg boxes with a SmartPass. Delivery can be free if you are flexible on times.

Lidl has organic milk, eggs, bananas, pasta, carrots, sometimes Cheddar and yogurt. ASDA has some good organic veg when they have it, plus olive oil, tinned toms, Whole Earth cornflakes. Sainsbury's has a pretty good range of organic stuff now, ditto Waitrose. Not much in Morrisons, barely anything in Tesco. Marks & Spencer has some and more you can click & collect online.

I miss Ocado, I don't have enough space in the kitchen anymore for Ocado deliveries, I can see 6 organic eggs on offer for £1.79 or £2 depending on the brand.

I used to get Highland Spring water as it says drawn from organic land, I got 2 1.5l bottles for £1 from Sainsburys last night.

I need to visit Lidl for organic eggs, I eat too many eggs as I find they fill me up when lots of other food don't.

Stokes real mayonaise and ketchup were on offer at 25% off in Waitrose but I only got one of each, the offer has finished now but I really liked both. I got the chilli mayonnaise. They are not organic but better ingredients than regular brands.

Ketchup - Tomatoes (196g in 100g Ketchup), Unrefined Raw Cane Sugar, Spirit Vinegar, Cornflour, Sea Salt, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Seasoning [Salt, Spice Extracts (contains CELERY), Onion Extract]

Mayonnaise - Rapeseed Oil, Free Range Pasteurised Whole EGG (12%), Water, Extra Virgin Olive Oil (5%), Unrefined Raw Cane Sugar, Acetic Acid, Sea Salt, MUSTARD Flour

Chilli mayonaise - Rapeseed Oil, Free Range Pasteurised Whole Egg (11%), Water, Jalapeno Chilli (2%), Unrefined Raw Cane Sugar, Acetic Acid, Sea Salt, Cayenne Pepper, White Pepper, Mustard Flour

I did not like Farrington's Mellow Yellow Mayonnaise.
Mellow Yellow® Rapeseed Oil (69%), Water, Pasteurised Free Range Egg Yolk, Dijon Mustard (Water, Mustard Seeds, Spirit Vinegar, Salt), Sugar, White Wine Vinegar, Lemon Juice, Salt.
