Not often on offer so will stock up.
Wow. Thats a great offer. I shall be going in today just to see if my store has this.'Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves'0 -

Food safety changes hit organic food in USA - Los Angeles Times0 -
Hi Edwardia and everyone else. Sorry I haven't been in here for ages but I had nothing of value to contribute.
However I come here now hoping for help. Morrisons sell "Alaskan Salmon", four fillets for £3. Now, Wild Alaskan Salmon is the thing to look for, as it is the best and healthiest. Morrisons packs don't say "Wild", but they do sayb "caught in the Pacific Ocean".
Given the wording above, and the ridiculous price for salmon, what's the deal here? I think it's iffy. Anyone else?Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -

OH and I love fish and salmon and tuna used to be our favourite, but I stopped buying any seafood from the pacific immediately after the disaster and now when I buy salmon it's only when on offer and is either Scottish or Norwegian. Personally I don't trust much of the official gov information
being released and think it's far worse. I've noticed a lot of organic salad and veg produce is imported from California which not only annoys me but also worries me because of the pollution in the air and rain. I will not buy American at all.0 -
Worrying, but more reason to buy organic whenever possible.
I came across a few articles which may be of interest to others here.
Although more expensive we have now gone totally organic on meat, veg and dairy. Most of the rest of the groceries are organic and we are becoming more aware of the ingredients in toiletries etc in part thanks to posters on here so thanks everyone.
For those that think going organic is too expensive we have found that not to be the case. I stock up on offers and only buy meat when on offer and freeze it hoping it will last till the next offer. So far so good and if anything we are spending less, wasting less and eating healthier.

I have two bags of Morrisons Pacific Ocean caught white fish in my freezer, I did have 2 bags of Morrisons Pacific Ocean caught Salmon but I didn't like the texture so gave them to my mother. I don't eat fish regulary so they have been in there for months now, I don't feel very easy about eating them now but I don't have the money to throw things away.
I think I might eat them myself, not give any to my son and then just not replace them once they have run out.'Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves'0 -
Labelling is often misleading. A pub can zap a ready meal in a microwave and call it home cooked.
Responsibly sourced mostly means farmed. Likewise from the waters of only means farmed in that location. Lochmuir isn't a place, it's a M&S trademark.
Once went to Sainsbos asked of the fish on the fish counter:"What's wild?" only to get the reply: " None of it".
I buy organic salmon portions 2 for £5 from ASDA's fish counter, frozen wild North Atlantic prawns/fish not Pacific either fresh or frozen. In fact fresh most likely is previously frozen.
My go to place is MSC http://www.msc.org/
Big thanx to sillyme as stocked up on Ecover in Sainsbury's yesterday - washing up liquid, powder, conditioner. :T0 -
Pacific caught is often a misleading phrase to me. I read where it's processed. Usually it's China and I refuse to buy it.
It's rare for me to find a caught, processed and packed in Canada/USA portion of salmon. I usually have to buy the entire fish. And $25 for supper isn't an option.0 -
I was looking on another site and saw these "soap nuts" linked as an alternative to washing powder.

They seem to have good reviews. Does anyone here use them and if so, what do you think of them?0
