Ocado order just turned up and included was the Autumn edition of OcadoLife magazine. There's a double page spread on organic products reviewed by Ocado shoppers, for Organic September.

Welcome to the thread Dozey crow ! Congratulations on the new job. There's a lot of satisfaction in being able to buy something worthwhile and think: " Yeah, I earned that !"

I always look at organic food as an investment in my health. It is more expensive and it's not always easy to find but lessening the cost and finding organic food are why this thread exists. I am conscious that this is MSE and many people will say that they can't afford organic food. That's why it now includes additive free and wild food too.

Dozey crow if you have any questions please ask, we're a supportive friendly bunch here :) And if there are more lurkers thining of posting.. please do ![/

Thank you for welcoming me. I am really excited about my job and having the option to make better food choices! Apart from slowly replacing essential items and treating our bunny to a new cage and run :) improving the quality of our food is all we are concerned with! We hope to try for a baby at some point and I would like to be as healthy as possible first! All of the stories of what is in our food are quite horrifying.
I have had a rule for years that if I check the ingredients on a packet and it takes more than 10 seconds I won't buy it!! We cook them scratch almost all of the time but we do have a few vices :D

I will be back with questions Edwardia... don't worry I ask a lot of questions!!

Just one bit of information I noticed that Aldi have two pints of fresh organic semi-skimmed milk for 89p.... may help someone?

They didn't bother to give me one :(
Even given the fact nearly everything on my order was organic I just got a leaflet of cruddy processed food..

    Welcome Dozey crow:hello:

Current new fave organic item are the Yeo Valley Tropical yoghurt pots, no bits, great flavour - on offer at Ocado at the moment and I think Waitrose. Don't think this flavour is stocked at other supermarkets?

Riverford are trialling new portion meal boxes though not something I could afford or probably want plus they don't come in a size suitable for me.

Yeo Valley Tropical yogurts are on offer at Sainsbury's at the moment.. sometimes I think supermarkets reckon people who eat organic only eat yogurt and muesli :rotfl:

Dozey Crow that's interesting about the organic milk at Aldi, because although Aldi in USA owns the famous Trader Joe's beloved by Hollywood actors and does organic, Aldi UK told me last yr they had no plans to do anything organic so well spotted.

Kirri I didn't spot the meal portion stuff at Riverford, will have to nose. If OH's new office has a microwave he could maybe zap himself something for lunch.

Our figs have suddenly ripened all at once and we have a bumper crop of about 6 kilos eek. Never had this many before and desperately looking for fig recipes for OH to make.. like the idea of grilled figs with goat's cheese.

The fruit crumble was amazing.. apple, rhubarb and raspberry.. I had a small spoonful to try. Hmm.. wonder what apple and fig crumble would be like..

^ I do love muesli and yoghurt though! Good news about Sainsbury's then, I hate it when certain flavours are difficult to get.

Got some organic egg free mayo today.

The Riverford new boxes may not be on the site yet, I've had 2 emails about them, one to say they are doing them and another regarding an offer if I want to trial them and review.

The latest Waitrose kitchen mag has a few fig recipes in it, was reading it today.

Riverford is doing Yeo Valley yogurts now too.. His Nibs very fond of Rachel's yogurts too - often on offer at Lidl, right now on offer at Sainsbo's. He particularly likes the gooseberry for breakfast.

I won't be buying egg free mayo, Kirri, I lurve eggs. :p I get through a dozen a week by myself :o I think there's a video of the cute Wiltshire chickens on A&C website. Second best are Daylesford and third Duchy from Waitrose.

I think the best organic mayo is from Abel & Cole, second best Simply Delicious. But I don't think any quite as good as Hellmann's - wish they did an organic one !

OH made marrow provencale tonight - gorgeous marrow was from Riverford I think.. we ran out of tomatoes so he used organic chopped from Tesco in tetra pak and they were really good. Next time my mother drags me into Tesco think I'll stock up. I guess not being in metal makes a difference ?

Might be able to get my mother to pick me up a Waitrose Kitchen thanks.

It's a Plamil one - I've had their non org garlic one from H&B when I was going through vegan month and although I was sceptical it was really good, tbh I can't say there was a difference in taste from one containing eggs - didn't realise they did an org one too so snapped it up today when I saw it. £2.39 but may be cheaper elsewhere. I will be dipping my pink fir apple potato wedges in it..

Edwardia - I've never had Hellmans!
