Organic food in supermarkets

Allo where is everybody ? Holland and Barrett has got offers on ATM I got an email.0

Much the same ^
Had bigger orders this week and think I ordered too much in one go.. especially given I'm now picking a few bits from the allotment. Is making it difficult to choose a box as obviously I don't now want boxes with asparagus in as I have bundles of home grown. Am also picking quite a few herbs and rocket just started but I'd ordered that! Had wet garlic from Riverford this week, my own garlic is tiny at the moment. Bunched carrots a fave of the gpigs too. Really good lettuce and pak choi from Riverford, outstanding freshness and quality this week and lots more UK veg now appearing.
The Parkham Farm cheddar from Riverford is very nice too
Had free Rabbit Juice from A&C but has rather a lot of bits in for my liking. Not tasted it yet.0 -
Thought this might interest folks on this thread- the dirty dozen and clean 15- the 12 most pesticide-laden foods, and the 15 least toxified. It's the updated 2013 list.

It's strange how it differs to home grown as 5 of the things on the dirty list are things I find grow easily organically whereas some things on the clean list attract a lot of pests!0 -

Hi.
Deliveries from both Able and Cole, Riverford and Ocado mean I hardly set foot in a supermarket these days, oh loves it.
Tried coleslaw and potato salad this week from A & C and is was the nicest ever. Tis only me who eats it so I rarely make it.
As for my Riverford order, I don't seem able to complete an order without including their chocolate brownies as a treat for the weekend. They are just too nice0 -
I'm wanting to get a veg box. I'll be needing it for fruit and veg. I don't know if I should go for Abel and Cole or Riverford. I'm wanting to know which one seems better value for the amount you get. I go through a lot of fruit and veg a week and OH goes through quite a bit also but is picky. We cook basically every night.
What would others suggest?
Our local Sainsburys isn't great for organic and is usually out and our local Waitrose although good for organic isn't a guarantee for organic fruit or veg either. This is why a veg box seems better but which one?

Does anyone know where you can get organic Sugarpaste, flower paste, food gums, baking natural flavours and colourings? I can't locate any in supermarkets.0

I've not seen any in supermarkets or online though haven't looked for them specifically recently - Asda had slightly more natural colourings compared to most though I had some weird looking cakes with some colours. I did a cake with boiled beetroot juice to colour the icing last year and that was amazing.january_23 wrote: »I'm wanting to get a veg box. I'll be needing it for fruit and veg. Having used Riverford and Abel & Cole most of this year I find them overall much the same in value/quantity though A&C has an option to skip items. - I order from both and choose the box mostly based on the contents each week.rufydoofyM wrote: »Hi.

I love it too, best decision I made to stop going in supermarkets! If I pass Waitrose I may go in for the odd thing I can't otherwise get but even that is hardly at all now.
I have the same problem though, I keep ordering the white choc & lemon biscuits from A&C - last week I even specially ordered them for a guest at the weekend but ate them all before they arrivedI may try those brownies for a change!
