Just got an email from the Soil Association.. has someone there been reading this thread ??
Official SA statement on GM in food chain on website now and acknowledgement that Waitrose only supermarket still not letting animals & poultry be fed GM for non organic.0 -
Good evening everyone.
I nipped to my local Sainsburys and got two packs of organic chicken breast fillets. one was 6.66 down to 3.49 and the other one was 5.81 to 2.99. Both had been reduced twice already so didn't think they would be reduced further.
I was quite pleased though, I sometimes get reduced organic if I'm lucky. I don't go in expecting anything I just go in when and if I do and if I find something great.
Hope everyone has had a good day.'Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves'0 -
bornintoit congrats on the bargains ! I've been looking at houses, pricing bathrooms, saving pix I like, starting to think about kitchen.
Hope everyone had a fun weekend, I went to see The Great Gatsby Friday.. looked fantastic but I didn't really like it whereas ahem I liked Olympus Has Fallen0 -
It may not seem like it, but we are heading towards summer and Wimbledon !

^ Waitrose in Wimbledon were giving away free not very organic but at least reusable bags for life last year when Wimbledon was on. I prefer those cotton bags.
Think I saw an organic top in H&M the other day.
Was in Waitrose earlier - org romaine lettuce £1.99 and tiny, from USA!!! cannot believe they can't source lettuce closer to home or even the UK right now. They were sold out of the little gem for 80p so couldn't see where that was from. I ended up buying a non org growing lettuce for £1 from Chichester - looked better and was just an extra for the pigs. As a smaller branch they didn't stock the org babycorn. Bit annoying neither Riverford or A&C have lettuces as an extra at the moment although they are in some boxes.
I had a survey from Waitrose Kitchen Table earlier and it was all about views on GM foods and feed..
Tried the Biona org marge but wasn't overly impressed in a cake though it seemed a nice spread for using. VERY expensive though, £1.99 for 250g. Have reverted to a tub of non org sunflower Pure for my next cake - though not sure if that is hydrogenated..?
Wanted organic sugar but the Waitrose I went in earlier didn't have any - think must only be stocked in large branches. It seems very expensive from A&C for a much smaller pack.
Lots of offers in Waitrose this morning but all for a buy two purchase.. but even so:
Grove OJ - 2 for £4.40 still plus I think I got an extra 57p off with the MyWaitrose card for the chilled juice offer.
Ecover - small washing up liquid 2 for £2
Ecover - dishwasher tablets, 2 for £7 I think??
Ecover - fabric conditioner - 2 for £2.50 I think??
Yeo Valley spreadable 500g 2 for £5
Wilkos still no Ecover on the shelvesMay message them and see why.

Sainsbury's are doing organic medjool dates, £2.15 for 200g. A lovely treat, especially if you're trying to cut down on chocolate or sweets.
(The price for non-organic is around £1.90/ £2 in most supermarkets, so I think it's a good deal. If you haven't tried medjools I recommend them- very different to the deglet nour dates you see a lot of around Christmas)

I second that - one of the supermarkets had them on a half price offer last year (?) and we tried them - kinda like eating toffees! Very very moreish!0 -

No, only veggie. I went vegan for a while for vegan month and now eat more vegan meals since then, but have gone back to having some dairy. I also found it harder to be an organic vegan than an organic vegetarian as a lot of dairy alternatives were not organic.
Running out of food here so had to put in slightly bigger orders this week with both A&C and Riverford. Glad to see both now have lettuce listed again and quite a few new items appearing. Added a few treats as it's a long weekend.0 -
Hey everyone how ya doin' ? Er that was a New Yorker impression which doesn't really work in this format
It's barely 10C here and normally my house plants would be enjoying being in garden - the kentia got sunburn last year. Feeling chilly
Just done Ocado order for Friday, saved 12.80 on offers plus 6.99 on delivery. Got President offer thanks plus Evian, Daylesford org chicken legs.. all sorts including 50% off hardback of Dan Brown's new book, Inferno. I lurve that new book feel of hardbacks.
I didn't get the GM Kitchen Survey tho signed up to them with myWaitrose - maybe I don't shop there enough now.
Maman is in France atm and x fingers I might get some organic goodies at the weekend.
Back to DIY for me tomorrow have a great weekend ! xx0
