Organic food in supermarkets

I love butter. I haven't bought margarine for a long time, and when I was looking at the one family had when I was visiting it looked horrible. I get Lurpak Organic spreadable which is butter and sunflower oil, it's delicious, but it's getting increasingly difficult to find. My main Tesco stopped stocking it, not the smaller one I was using haven't had it in stock for a while. Might head to Morrisons at the weekend so will put some in the freezer if they have it! I'd quite like butter in a dish but the cats would find it within a few minutes of it being out!
Beckyy , Yeo Valley make an organic Buttery Spreadable which is 62.5 percent butter, 31per cent sunflower oil, 1.3 percent salt. Is the Lurpak version unsalted?
Updated: just checked Ocado and the Lurpak organic spreadable is butter and rapeseed oil with 0.9 percent salt. The non-organic versions use, from a quick glance, vegetable oil or olive oil depending on the variety.0 -
Thanks for all the birthday wishes xx No cake but I did have organic strawberries and organic ice cream
sam247 I think I have tonsilitis too.. can hardly swallow (gonna look like an organic yogurt soon !), sweating/shivering, exhausted so (((sams247)))
Glad you got a parcel from Planet Organic in the end. Does anyone else have any parcels still missing ?0 -
Belated birthday wishes E! Hope you recover soon for a delayed day out.
Small order coming from A&C tomorrow, not really able to cook at the moment much. I did mean to order pasta though and forgot. Passing Waitrose tomorrow so will grab some of the Grove OJ on offer still.
YV spreadable is on offer at Waitrose at the moment. Morrisons did do the Lurpak organic in a small size, no idea if they still do as have been avoiding it mostly this year.0 -

No wonder she stays slim if that portion of soup is all she eats for lunch!0 -
opps yes happy belated birthday edwardia
Nothing very interesting going on here today, popped in lidl but hardly got anything as I know my riverford box is coming tomorrow.
Organic porridge very nice for brekkie with my organic milk. I'm finding it a little annoying that I struggle to find the milk apart from the supermarkets.
co-op sell it but it's £1.29 for 2pints lidl is a little better at 99p, but you can't get 4pints though. When it's 2 for £3 for 8pts elsewhere it's annoying me lol0 -

We prefer the Lurpak organic butter spread as it's lower in salt and also prefer rapeseed oil to sunflower oil in the spread, because as veggies we try not to eat too much Omega 6 (or is it omega 3 I get the numbers mixed up! Lol. Anyway we try to keep the omega 3 & omega 6 ratios 'in balance'). And I think the lurpak tastes nicer!0 -
I use organic virgin coconut oil instead of butter. Very stable at the high temperatures demanded for frying, it is composed mostly of short and medium chain saturated fatty acid which are NOT the harmful saturated kind (long chain). In fact, in moderate quantities it is good for the heart. But it must be organic and preferable virgin, to avoid various meddlings during production.
Frying eggs in it makes for a scrumptious, delicate taste.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -

Thank you all for the birthday wishes and the cakes. Fire Fox I tried to laugh at the idea of low carb cake and it came out as a gurgle.
Riverford is doing a first box for 5.99 instead of 12.95 offer for new customers placing a regular order, on page 63 of the Evening Standard tonight.
Got an email today from Riverford to say as my next order is my 10th I can choose a free gift - cool bag, eco-blanket, teatowel or veg scrubbing brush.
Got an email from Ocado also, offering me personalised offer coupons..on Knorr stock pots, Maille salad dressings, Walls Dino and Cornettos - none of which I would ever order.
Look out for the Yeo Valley yogurt pots with a Freelander on them as you can win one or £25,000 cash. There's also a draw to win £500 in Farrow & Ball vouchers.0
