Fry tomato paste in olive oil ? Er, why ? <Confused>
OH chucked a jar of Mr Organic tomato sauce with basil over organic skinless boneless chicken 1t 3pm, added a few organic peas and called it lunch. He seemed surprised when I scowled and told him it was gross.
Mean wife that I am, I told him to go off to the local ethnic store and buy me something else. He came back with Heinz non organic but additive free baked beans (so he said) to which he added some Daylesford organic curry powder which nearly blew my mouth off.
He says that though Heinz is still labelling tins no artificial colourings, flavourings or preservatives, he spotted polyphosphates in the macaroni cheese and glucose-fructose syrup in the spaghetti

Evidently polyphosphates retain water in fish processing to create less thaw drip.. so what's it doing as a stabiliser in pasta ?0 -

Cos it tastes delish, goes brown-ish ... caramelised? Apparently it's called pincage in French and celebrity chefs do it. Yes I did just Google that, I am no cookery expert. :rotfl:Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

Thanks for this, very similar ingredients to the Kallo low salt then. Has anyone taste tested the two please? Wondering if they are the same supplier.
Kallo "Maize Starch*, Vegetable Oil*, Yeast Extract, Chicken* (7%), Chicken Fat* (7%), Roasted Onion*, Caramelised Sugar*, Celery*, Turmeric*, Garlic*, Parsley*, Rosemary*, Natural Flavouring. *Organically Grown"
Heinz "Cornflour*, Vegetable Oil*, Yeast Extract, Chicken* (7%), Chicken Fat*, Onions* (1%), Sugar*, Celery* (0.3%), Spice*, Herbs*, Garlic*, Natural Flavouring * Produced in accordance with organic farming standards"Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

Used the organic Kallo low salt & Heinz organic veggie stock cubes, both very good but Kallo has turmeric and that doesn't suit all recipes, so we choose between them.0 -

Here's the thread if anyone else wants to wade in. I'd never eat in the US again lol eww0 -
^ Let alone that the food for me as a veggie in the USA was the worst I've ever had (stodge central).
Does anyone know what the latest is on GM trials in the UK? Do they still do them?0 -
Fire Fox - these celebrity chefs do my head in.. I mean yes if you're cooking you can add tomato paste into olive oil sure but caramelising tablespoons of double concentrated tomato paste ewww
Supposedly French but all the references to it were on American websites. Putting it into a French search engine came up with tips on growing cannabis and a method of making pottery objects.
Pesto brushed on lamb chops and grilled or chicken and roasted on the other hand goes all nice n crunchy..
bornintoit - LOL yup I really hit the Evian that Daylesford curry powder is HOT. " I only put 1 teaspoon in" but for only 400g beans.. sheesh !
Kallo v Heinz.. taste wise I think the Heinz too salty and too expensive also. Prefer the Kallo. Could be that Kallo make them though as they make stuff for the Boots organic baby rnge so Boots told me. The Antony Worrall-Thompson ones aren't as salty as Heinz and cheaper. Kirri uses Marigold I think. I tend to make meat and fish stocks but use stock cubes for others at home cos I don't have a walk in freezer to go scoop out some stock any time I want it.0 -

AFAIK they are trying to do them in secret but if you Google say no to GM I think there's a website with details.
I've never had a Gardenburger, guess I should be grateful
