Fire Fox - these celebrity chefs do my head in.. I mean yes if you're cooking you can add tomato paste into olive oil sure but caramelising tablespoons of double concentrated tomato paste ewww

Supposedly French but all the references to it were on American websites. Putting it into a French search engine came up with tips on growing cannabis and a method of making pottery objects. :D

:rotfl: Nooo honestly it is delish, not overly sweet just a depth of flavour, a different tang.

Is gardenburger or chevalburger worse? Or the lamb curry that was not made from sheep, cow, pig, chicken, goat or horse?

Kallo v Heinz.. taste wise I think the Heinz too salty and too expensive also. Prefer the Kallo. Could be that Kallo make them though as they make stuff for the Boots organic baby rnge so Boots told me. The Antony Worrall-Thompson ones aren't as salty as Heinz and cheaper. Kirri uses Marigold I think. I tend to make meat and fish stocks but use stock cubes for others at home cos I don't have a walk in freezer to go scoop out some stock any time I want it.

Thanks. :) I have used Marigold reduced salt bouillon for vegetable stock for years and will stick with that. Do want a lower salt chicken and/ or beef cube, additive free or organic. Currently using Meridian no added salt yeast extract but it doesn't work for all dishes.

I didn't see the show but did read this elsewhere on MSE

OH likes goat curry, he lived in the Caribbean for awhile.

I'm not really a fan of tomato paste, it's a processed ingredient. I like using fresh tomatoes in things.

AFAIK they are trying to do them in secret but if you Google say no to GM I think there's a website with details.

I've never had a Gardenburger, guess I should be grateful :)
    http://www.gardenburger.com/

Are gardenburgers GM? I found a nice place selling veggie burgers in Chicago

and yep I'm still on Marigold, though they do quite a few varieties and like most stuff in supermarkets they are not all available in every one.

Re the tanning - try Lavera, it's the only natural looking one I've found and by far my fave out of the ones I've tried. It is very light though but I'm guessing you're not going for the Towie look.. Never heard of that one in Debenhams but I like the bottle..

No idea Kirri, I just laugh at the whole Gardenburger euphemism for veggie burger. :D

All I know about TOWIE is that it's set in Essex, a county I've visited maybe five times total for airshows... I was dating an Army officer at the time :o My mother told me that I looked pale enough to pass as a vampire extra in Twilight this morning and I'd rather look like pale golden toast, not that I remember what toast tastes like..

Homebase had sold out of the own brand organic compost on 3 for 2. :(

Sainsbury's SO organic beef burgers are 2 for £5 ie £5 for 4 burgers so we were brave and bought some - not had them before.

Abel & Cole pea, courgette and mint tarts got the thumbs down from the tasting panel but the Higgedy Mediterranean veg tarts are fantastic. The Waitrose organic seasonal salad bag was nice too.

lindseykim13 I hope you have a better experience than me. According to the website they delivered to my postcode but they didn't let me know that the driver had refused to deliver to me, until the day after the delivery was due :(

Well the Sainsbury's SO organic burgers weren't the best ever, but a long way from being the worst too.

Sainsbury's SO organic frozen garden peas not as good as Waitrose. :(
    Sainsbury's 2.20 for 750g. Waitrose 1.47 for 500g

I just posted a tip on another thread which I'm embarrassed to say I haven't ever thought to include on this thread :o Soo..

If you meal plan, it works out cheaper to meal plan around offers, rather than meal plan and have to buy expensive ingredients.

Clean version of a British military proverb is Prior Planning and Preparation Prevents Poor Performance, known as The Six P's.

In Blue Peter fashion, you will need:

    Ring binder
A4 size junk letters, faxes, print outs with a blank side
    Glue
    Plastic pockets
    Dividers (optional)
All those recipes from magazines, supermarket flyers and veg boxes which are cluttering up the place

Simply trim and stick however you want, by type eg meat, fish, veg, salad or alphabetically or just random. You get two A4 pages per pocket and when you want to cook something you have a wipe clean recipe.

If you can't be bothered another way of pulling out recipes by ingredient is to use a supermarket recipe search. Good ones suggest recipes, tell you what else you will need and let you order online.

One of the things that makes trying new cheaper ingredients a barrier is not knowing what to do with them. Collecting a few recipes or browsing online gives a starting point.

Eating more organic, wild and additive free food isn't like going on a low carb/fat/calorie diet, you can still use old favourites but hopefully they will taste even better.

Got YS SO organic raspberries tonight in Sainsbury's reduced to 30p. Have frozen them and will add to org natural yogurt for OH. Very rare for me to get YS :j

My mother brought up a nice surprise - I had totally forgotten that we went to Morrisons a couple or so weeks ago and got Borges organic EV olive oil on offer and to Budgens and got OH's fave Suma organic peanut butter. I didn't fancy clanking 6 litres of oil on train so my mother arrived with them today and I have several months supply now all 50% off. Morrisons seems to have this offer fairly frequently.
