Has anyone tried the Caerfilli cheese from Riverford??
I got the Grove offer in Waitrose today as I was passing but they had no yoghurt offers so had to pay full pricePicked up a Mini Moo vegan organic choc bar to try..
Ordered from both Riverford and A&C this week, barely spent anything in a shop apart from a few bits in Waitrose as I've been passing.0 -
Thanks for all the helpful information and suggestions.
No ALDI nearby, but I did wander over to Waitrose earlier to have a look. Bought some pork mince and cumin - meatballs tomorrow!, plus got some reduced organic mushrooms, reduced organic tomatoes and reduced organic pointy peppers - between 85p and 90p each :T
I've put lamb bones (for casserole) and a pork shoulder joint onto my A and C order for Friday so will try them out.
Not tried Riverford yet, though I think I will once Easter is over. Love the sound of Brisket - slow cooked beef is delish! :j
Just seen poor poor welsh sheep being dug out of snowdrifts on the news - Heartbreaking0 -
Just had an email for Ethical Superstore offering 20% off everything til Weds night. Might that be on top of the Ecover offer?

You beat me to posting the 20% discount on Ethical Superstore lol.
I was going to write a funny (in my mind) message about it.
Going to place another order!
The Suma porridge is great.

Call me squeamish, but personally I would not want to be eating an animal liver because the liver deals with all the toxins or the kidneys as I'd rather avoid something which filters animal urine ewww but lamb's hearts on the other hand can be totally yummy ditto oxtail and tongues mmm.
.
I cook and eat pork and chicken liver.I usually soak liver in milk it makes taste milder and removes any left over toxins and blood from liver. Liver in supermarkets usually is quite cheap although not so good as organic one.Taste really differs!
From chicken liver I usually make pate, or course it isn't so cheap as shop bought but tastes delicious.
Chicken liver-230 g -2.45 (Riverford)
-250g -1.99(Abel & Cole)
I usually buy chicken livers from Abel and Cole, or butcher(Laverstoke park Farm-you can order online too)
To make pate I need boiled chicken livers, fried onions and carrots, seasoning and butter, all this I blend together using hand blander:rotfl:
Recently bought pig livers from Laverstoke Park 1kg cost 3.50
Quality and taste is excellent. Pork Liver Strogannof is yummy too, even my fussy husband likes it.
Also we like meat from waitrose and sainsbury's butcher counter.
I try to buy organic meat as much as possible but unfortunately can't afford organic meat every time.:(“The simple things are also the most extraordinary things, and only the wise can see them.”

OMG feeling seriously stuffed..OH excelled himself tonight stuffing two extra large organic red peppers from Riverford with org shallots, walnuts, tomatoes, pine nuts and High Weald Dairy organic Halloumi cheese, based on a recipe in a 1970s cookbook his mother gave me. Absolutely gorgeous :T
Found an excellent idea in a recipe booklet that suggested you took two large peppers, filled one with HM hummus and the other with chopped veg strips and there you had a portable picnic, and even had a pepper to tear up and use to dip too.

lindseykim13 - well done on finding a bargain
Fire Fox - I can cook all sorts of things but doesn't necessarily mean I want to eat seared foie gras or pheasant terrine. My mother used to make me eat concrete hard liver until I actually <those of sensitive disposition look away now> puked on the plate. I haven't ever been able to eat it since but it's probably better to be flippant and go eww than bring up my Dearest Mommy issues :rotfl:
sams247 - I make own houmous and am doing a picnic in June so thanks for the idea
vincenta - OH would vacuum that up has to be said. I have been known to eat sanglier - my keyboard refuses to add the circumflex or acute accent grr pate0 -
"They f*** you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.
But they were f***ed up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another's throats.
Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don't have any kids yourself."Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

A great book btw, is also called "The F*** You Up" and is about family life- it's not a book about blame, its a book about learning to understand.0
