Looking forward to our Riverford delivery tomorrow.
New Aldi opened but can't remember what organic stuff they do. What should I look for ? It was so busy today and I was so tiered I couldn't find anything.0 -
Aldi does an organic range in Germany and if you do a search on this thread you should find the link bornintoit posted of a PDF with lots of products. The organic range was actually cheaper than non organic in UK !
In USA not only does Aldi have an organic range, it also owns Trader Joe's, the main competitor of Whole Foods Markets.
I called Aldi some months ago and asked the Q. I was told that Aldi didn't do organic food in the UK and had no plans to do so.
During Fairtrade Fortnight I did spot organic Fairtrade bananas at 1.39 - cheaper than Waitrose, ASDA and Sainsbury's but 39p dearer than Lidl. So officially no, is the answer but unofficially ??????
Lidl, however, does stock a small amount of organic food. So far I have found bananas, heirloom tomatoes, farfalle, semi-skimmed milk, Farmhouse Cheddar, carrots, onions, Rachel's yogurts and Heinz biscotti.0 -
Moroccan organic argan oil from Yotam Ottolenghi, 16.50 for 100ml is not actually most expensive I've seen. There's a prob with the photo of the bottle it seems.

Happy Eggs 6 free range eggs medium were 2.16 now 1.25 to 03/04/13
I'm loving Ottolenghi's trips around Marrakech and Turkey so far!
(Got my Aleppo pepper from Amazon).
Just a note about Happy Eggs, google and see the conditions, they were investigated by one of the animal rights places, can't remember which, but looked awful.
Though guessing most of the large FR supermarket suppliers aren't that great due to flock size/price constraints.0 -
Ocado are still following their pattern of reducing the veg box every 2 months
Now on offer for £14.39 for 10 items which seems very good value. Contents look good for week after this one too. On offer till 2/4 but if you put it in the basket now and don't order even past that date it still says at the same price.. I did like this box but am finding it more convenient to order smaller total order amounts from Riverford or A&C and get my food weekly.
Also had price alerts from My Supermarket - Waitrose have Ecover on offer, from memory good price on the toilet cleaner and think it was dishwasher tablets as well on offer.0 -
Hi,guys.I am new here0

Welcome En35edina! :hello:Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Kirri - thanks for the heads up on Happy Eggs and the Ecover toilet cleaner offer at Waitrose.
I had ordered some from Farmaround and although not as good as the offer price it's 30p cheaper than the normal Waitrose price. Washing powder and washing up liquid are also on offer so I may drag my mother into Waitrose on Monday
Hole punched all my A&C recipes and put them in with the Riverford ring binder which I got free with my 4th order.
Anyone who has mooched around on the I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards thread will be familiar with the idea of challenges and I think there are challenges on other threads too.
Soo.. how about a challenge next month ? For those who've had Abel & Cole, Riverford or Ocado boxes how about cooking a recipe from the flyers and for people who haven't, how about cooking one of your favourite recipes with organic food and seeing whether it tastes better ?
Idea ?
Welcome En35edina if you have any questions please ask, and hope you enjoy the thread.0 -
For anyone with an A&C account, ^ if anyone cooks the potato bread (in the book or on the homepage), don't forget to upload it to the site as there's a competition! They did an omelette photo comp this week too but I missed that.. Also a choc easter egg comp on there! (see the fb page). I'm going to try the A&C fritter recipe, it was in the 'hello and welcome' brown leaflet.
I may still go to shops if something is on offer and I am passing it anyway but think these org delivery co's having their standard prices lower, are really good. A&C I think have the large 5l clothes washing liquid on offer, works out a good price and I just keep a smaller bottle under the sink and decant it into that.
Fabric cond still in Wilkos for £1.25, was same price this week too.
I think Ocado are going to lose my custom to A&C now... I can get most things I want and on the dried wholefoods side they seem to have a wider organic range AND I can get it delivered weekly for 99p delivered in a woolcool box which I'm loving - even in flats they can hold (insured) keys to communal doors so will be perfect if I'm working or in/out all day etc - I wish I'd known they did that before!
A&C have been, waiting for Riverford now, I'm loving Fridays
After I posted about the good coriander (the whole plant) last time, this time it is just the stalks so will have to be used quicker.0 -
I had my Riverford order this morning too
Flour Power City Bakery pain au levain
Ham and leek tarts
Homity pies
Creme fraiche
Clotted cream
Laydilay mayo
High Weald Dairy Halloumi
Mushrooms
Cherry toms
so three new things to try..
Have arranged that my mother will stop off en route to pick up Ecoverbefore she gets here on Monday thanks Kirri !
OH has horrible cold, his boss told him to go home early yesterday and not come in today. If he's well enough tomorrow we may nip into Wilkos while out.0
