I do lurve Ocado so will still use them. I split my shopping between the three. I spend around £12-£15 pw with Riverford and A&C and then £40-£60 t Ocado, but now I don't have a milk guzzling food guzzling lab it all has to be adjusted.

Holland & Barrett is doing BOGOHP at the moment with £20 free delivery. I've used them in store, so just done my first online order:

2 x Aspalls organic cyder vinegar
1 x organic pumpernickel bread (OH)
1 x organic sunflower seed bread (OH)
2 x organic brazil nuts (OH)
    2 x organic cashew nuts
    2 x organic Bombay mix
    2 x organic walnuts
2 x organic VegeBears fruit jellies (OH)
1 x organic pepper and tomato tofu pate

Video of bucking bovines being let out into fields for the summer cos it's that time of year and you should also start seeing lambs in more sheltered areas too.

^ I watched that cow video the other day :D
Nearly spring, I watch the Peregrines nest cam live from London and they've laid an egg!

Sorry to hear about your dawg :( Still miss mine after 10 years..

I have a lot of org offers in my Ocado basket waiting for a 20% code but order amounts are far too high for me to use regularly plus the higher delivery costs and faffing around trying to get a cheap slot - saying that though this week I've had £20 ish each on Riverford and A&C..

Seem to be spending £15-£20 a week on Riverford weekly and £20 on A&C every 2 weeks. I need to settle it down and maybe use A&C weekly for a smaller amount. Will tail off using the veg boxes over the summer but will keep using them for all the other bits of food. The only things I can't get so far that I need are light brown SR flour which I'll get in a big Waitrose and CJacks peel which I can only find so far in Olivers (and maybe Amazon had it in a multi pack?).

Riverford have delivered now too, lovely salad box. Good recipes in the new booket, mostly veggie too which is a bonus! Tried the rapeseed oil. Had a nose in the Pimhill muesli, lots more fruit than the DC box though not many nuts.. (may top up on the H&B offer, ta for heads up) The packaging on the DC makes it look bigger than the Pimhill but it's the other way round on actual product weight! Fancied a sour dough but made bread yesterday so couldn't justify getting it..

OH opened the Pimhill muesli this morning Kirri and I kid you not , he added so much milk the muesli was swimming in it. :D He said that it's pretty good and he liked it.

I'm starting to find that as long as I do one big order which includes meat, fish. poultry and game in a month that I don't need to do as many Ocado orders now. If I'm organised I can get away with every other week. However then the Q becomes is it worth getting a Smart Pass ?

Had some A&C lamb chops for lunch.. verry lamby flavour, but a tad chewy. Got Waitrose organic farmed brown trout for dinner from their fish counter.

Finest Catch white fish fillets 700g 2 for £5 might be wild, should be additive free.
Farmfoods New Zealand lamb chump chops 750g 3 for £10 should be additive free and NZ lamb has to be grass-pastured to get the NZ stamp.
Princes tuna 4 tins 3 for £10 wild

Good to hear the Pimhill's was good, I can't do soggy muesli hence I eat it with yoghurt and quickly!

My mum got the R/meat box this week to try - and an A&C veg box, blames me for her ordering :D

If you don't renew the smart pass if not ordering so much you might be able to work it around cheap delivery slots instead and just order once in a while, unless there is stuff you can only get from there and need to use it more I suppose.
  • Hello all - it must be fab food Friday :j

Had my Abel and Cole order today too, and just SO happy with it all. Been rearranging my fridge all afternoon to tuck everything in!

    Best bits:
    Long Crichel Bread
    guernsey milk / cream
    Pittas
    Hoummous
    Alfalfa sprouts
Veg box - brimming with carrots, onions, broccoli, cabbage, celeriac, tomatoes, baby leaf salad, potatoes

Really good value and perfect condition. I'm a convert!

P.s. the veg cook book is lovely too. Just working out the best approach to Celeriac! ;)

Hi ***cupcake*** yep Fab Food Friday seems apt :D

The A&C milk is fab so is the Long Crichel bread. Marginally favour the Riverford houmous over the A&C though. As for celeriac we like celeriac and apple soup (recipe on Ocado), celeriac remoulade, celeriac oven chips and celeriac and fennel mash :) Sure you will find plenty of recipes tho.

Placed an order with Totally Swedish for Lofbergs Lila 'Serenad' organic coffee as the 'Harmoni' is out of stock. Don't mind though as it's 30p cheaper.

Feeling totally shopped out as decided to order now to bag a 10am Ocado slot on Easter Saturday. Ordered Calon Wen milk and Daylesford eggs cos we won't be having A&C order Easter Monday. We're going to my mother's and OH doesn't want to leave it on doorstep.

As we only eat organic, A&C will send the buffet food to my mother on Good Friday - how's that for organisation huh ? :T

I'm thinking homity pies, ham & leek tarts and pea, courgette & mint tarts with potato salad, coleslaw, tzatziki, houmous, olive sourdough bread, grilled zucchini in olive oil, olives, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, watercress, rocket ..then raspberries and clotted cream, blackcurrant and strawberry crumbles with vanilla custard and rice pudding for mother and husband.

OH has approved that already, the glutton :D

So Riverford/A&C etc still deliver on bank hols ie Good Friday I presume?

I noticed Riverford do an Easter hamper but it has a leg of lamb in it, shame they don't do a Veg Easter hamper box. (I loved the Christmas hamper).

I've already put in my A&C order next week, trying a veg box from them for the first time just because they have a more suitable selection for what I want next week (presumably boxes delivered next Fri will be the boxes marked as 22/3, as changeover days is Fridays and onwards I guess?). BUT they don't allow you to order it as a one off, bit annoying so will have to remember to pause/cancel it after. Just trying the small one with added 1 extra salad item and 2 fruit items. Plus some Whole Earth cola.

Btw free bee friendly seeds available on Soil Assoc website if quick..

A&C delivering on Good Friday an Easter Monday. No idea whether some places get weekend deliveries. Haven't asked Riverford about Easter yet as have ham & leek tarts and homity pies in freezer.

Homity pies were originally a Cranks recipe BTW
    https://www.cranks.co.uk

The cookbook with the recipe and lots more whole food most of it veggie is available from Amazon

Re: the bees and Soil Association.. got an email this afternoon which says EU Commission voted NOT to ban neonicotinoid pesticides. :(
