Organic food in supermarkets

Edwardia thanks for the tips, saw it being eaten on the Selfridges drama the other week and thought that looks good. I love picky food and don't have kids just oh (a big kid really) but will have kitchen roll to hand.
I used to get so organic houmous ys for about 29p every week or two and freeze it. Defrosts quite quickly and just needs a stir and you wouldn't know it had been frozen.
G&B chocolate ice cream is deffinitely the best according to oh. managed to get about 5 or 6 pots from Sainsbos a few weeks back on sale at £2.12, but all consumed now. Think they have stopped stocking it as magnum ice cream is in its place. Never mind it was nice whilst it lasted.
I believe Country Life on the bbc tonight is featuring organic.0 -
^ Just came on to post that, Countryfile now, Prince Charles talking organic.0

Thanks Kirri, if anyone else was doing other things and missed it, like me, here's the link to it on BBC iPlayer.

alfsmum, how do you avoid the temptation, I wouldn't, for sure.:D
Quasar sounds great. Do you use your slow cooker much ?
My mother gave me a slow cooker and it went in the gadget cupboard for a year. When I was clearing it out she asked for it back. I had some Sainsbury's SO organic diced beef recently that was 3 for £10. Some of the lumps were chewy, some were great, so I reckon for anyone with a slow cooker they would be good.
thanks rufydoofyM you're more than welcome, I've got both those stashed in the freezer too - well yummy. Have you tried the pork pie yet ? I got the Ocado carrots on offer this evening saving 85p, also the 3 packs (so 27 rolls) Andrex Eco for 10.50 saving 2.97. Yeo Valley organic soured cream is 9p cheaper at £1. There are offers on Clipper organic tea bags too.
I don't always avoid the temptation :rotfl: .In fact, I let myself be persuaded to go yesterday for a browse and a cup of tea on Mother's Day, but I do keep a close eye on price and quality at Wholefoods. I always check fruit and veg really carefully as I've had to return things which looked fine in the shop but were mouldy when I got them home and opened the bag or punnet. The staff have been very apologetic, replaced and refunded the item, but I could do without the hassle. Also, I find Abel and Cole or Riverford cheaper on some items, e.g Montezuma choc buttons, oats. That said, I always enjoy a look round and there's often something to sample which we wouldn't have thought of buying.0 -

We also got the Ocado carrots on offer, plus Clipper tea and bogof blueberries. I find any offers like this really helpful in enabling us to carry on being as additive free as possible as it's not easy with the way prices are spiralling.0 -
vincenta and alfsmum - I got a pack of 2 Spanish organic garlic bulbs for 59p at Morrisons on Saturday but haven't tried them yet.
alfsmum- I've seen the veg misters on videos of Whole Foods Market stores and I wonder whether constant exposure to water makes some veg go mouldy. One year I grew runner bens and watering them every day (which they loved) made the honeysuckle they were growing with, get mildew.
smallblueplanet - Yeo Valley does ice cream.. ooh where, lemme at it.. not that I should eat it really but I'll swipe some of OH's
rufydoofyM - six pots of G&B chocolate ice cream  All gone ? Have to say OH would probably do that.0 -
Edwardia once oh gets the taste for chocolate there's no stopping him especially organic. It's just as well that the Sainbos offer didn't last long.
Looking forward to my A&C delivery tomorrow and although we make our own bread I've ordered the malted 5 seed sourdough bread from the Long Crichel bakery and the hot cross buns from the Authentic Bread Co. Wondering how they will compare to those we had from Long Crichel.0 -
