Riverford man was looking a bit soggy too
A&C eggs are very good actually, my numero uno followed by Daylesford. Clicking on the wrong thing is all too easy online, I've ended up with too much of things when I thought I'd removed a few packs of butter. OH then opens freezer and whinges. I did nibble a bit of that Daylesford fruit bread and it's sensational.
Not being a bread eater myself, I wouldn't watch all those baking shows. I might suggest it to OH though as he's wanting to make sourdough himself this summer.
Do you live near enough to get to the Whole Foods Market store in Gloucestershire alfsmum ?
Kirri if you're lurking, thanks for the organic veggie gravy powder recommendation (Marigold)
Pass dangerously close to Wholefoods on way to and from work :rotfl:0 -
alfsmum, how do you avoid the temptation, I wouldn't, for sure.:D
Quasar sounds great. Do you use your slow cooker much ?
My mother gave me a slow cooker and it went in the gadget cupboard for a year. When I was clearing it out she asked for it back. I had some Sainsbury's SO organic diced beef recently that was 3 for £10. Some of the lumps were chewy, some were great, so I reckon for anyone with a slow cooker they would be good.
thanks rufydoofyM you're more than welcome, I've got both those stashed in the freezer too - well yummy. Have you tried the pork pie yet ? I got the Ocado carrots on offer this evening saving 85p, also the 3 packs (so 27 rolls) Andrex Eco for 10.50 saving 2.97. Yeo Valley organic soured cream is 9p cheaper at £1. There are offers on Clipper organic tea bags too.0 -

It's a small one so I can only get 8 or 9 portions out of it, but yes, in the winter I use it almost on a weekly basis, to make meals for when I come home late and don't want to faff around.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
In the Evening Standard's ES magazine today is Cocomaya co-founder Walid al Damirji's kitchen in Kensington. Unfortunately couldn't find a link to share. It's not an exceptional kitchen, much more casual and homely than you'd assume a former creative director of Joseph would have. However the mismatched ceramic tile splashback is fantastic. Also, he fills Edwardian decanters with dried herbs n spices :T
Cocomaya is an artisanal chocolaterie in central London which also has a bakery. Much of its baked goods are made with organic ingredients.http://cocomaya.co.uk/bakery/
ASDA leaflet through the door tonight full of unspeakable inedibles (sorry Oscar) but if you're happy to eat free range non-organic eggs, the medium ones are 6 for £1 which is a bit of a bargain if you bake.0 -
Wow just checked out cocomayer tad pricey for me at £5 per 100g
Within the Riverford box today I'd ordered Montezuma large chocolate buttons. Was going to put them away for oh at Easter but he got to the box before me. So after our homity pie tonight we did some quality control and they are very nice. Cheaper than the bars on ocado which are £2.39 for 100g, the buttons were £2.75 for 180g (equivalent to £1.53 per 100g) Bargain me thinks and added to next order.
Will be trying the pork pie tomorrow.
As I was finalising my ocado due tomorrow I was about to order the breakfast bundle, Laverstoke sausages and bacon and what on earth large eggs all for £8.50, but I read the reviews and discovered that the eggs were Italian and not British  So promptly removed them from my order.0 -
Was in a different home bargains today and they had the beef organic gravy granules aswell as the chicken ones they are really tastey. Also got some crisps not organic but suitable for gluten free diets. They quite often have organic stuff, Edwardia do you have one near you as it's not just full of "rubbish" if you know what I mean.0

just trying - no Home Bargains near me
Poundland and 99p Stores in my town, Poundland and Poundstretcher in my mother's nearest town. Not seen anything organic yet !
rufydoofyM ..chocolate buttons.. if OH gets on with the DIY he might get some of thoseItalian actual eggs ? I thought What On Earth did pizzas ?? <confused>
Persuaded my mother to take me to her nearest Morrisons. Quite a big one, looks clean and fresh, not cramped like my nearest one. It was teeming with badly behaved kids, screaming and running around. I can see why she avoids it.
Found Morrisons 2 organic garlic bulbs 59p from Spain :T Morrisons organic cucumber from Morocco 1.25 but my receipt says 90p and it wasn't reduced so noo idea what was going on there. I'm interested to try that because maybe Moroccan cucumbers taste different ?
Couldn't find organic onions, red onions, shallots, spring onions or carrots.
Got Morrisons organic vacuum packed beetroot for under 90p (will check receipt was either 85p or 89p) whereas Waitrose, Ocado and Sainsbury's all £1.
Morrisons organic mushrooms £1 per punnet for button and white closed cup. They had organic chestnut ones too.
Teeniest tiny organic Fairtrade bananas were 1.37 compared to Lidl £1 and Lidl's def bigger.
Morrisons 80 organic teabags 1.50 - OH is going to do a taste test on this in the morning as that's 59p per 80 cheaper than Sainsbury's and Tesco.
Mornflake organic oats £1 and I picked up 4 teeny Bonne Maman jams for OH for £1, saving 16p IIRC.
Borges organic Extra Virgin olive oil 500ml on offer again 50% off so I scooped up four.
Snapped a photo of organic milk on offer, will check photo later.
Kirri - found the organic OJ in Marks and Spencer but have a horrible feeling I left it in my mother's kitchen !0 -
The M&S OJ is my fave, bit expensive though isn't it! shame you might not get to try it after all!).
Morrisons cucumber - only one I had from there this year went mouldy very quick. As much as I want to visit Morocco I don't buy produce from there, can only assume it's cheaper than the stuff available in Spain?? Morrisons are constantly stocking toms from there whenever I've looked in the past. Shame you didn't get carrots, they looked good the last two times I checked in there, both the normal org bagged ones and the boxed rainbow org ones (which weren't all big either). The crowds are what put me off in Morrisons, it's unbearable.
I had Riverford Friday but they were really late so wasted a whole day waiting for them to turn up when I had loads of things I needed to get out and do. Their mushrooms are the freshest out of any I've ever had (fantastic with Stilton) and really enjoying all the different boxes so far.
Anyone know where I can get organic Aleppo pepper from?! or even normal Aleppo pepper.. (Rick Stein recipe..).0 -
Yesterday I nipped into Sainsbos to get lotto tkts and had a quick scout round the reduced sections. I was incredibly good and left the organic cream that was reduced as I would have been compelled to bake an organic choccy cake to have with it and my diet has yet to commence (been getting round to it for months but keep finding new things to try and getting all excited over organic goodies that it clean goes out of my mind, like when I discovered the g&b minis on offer and the montezuma choccy buttons
)
What I did buy in sainsbos were 3 packs of diced organic British beef for £10 some for the freezer and some that went into the slow cooker with spuds, carrotts and onions for tea. It wasn't bad, not the best we've had but ok for the price and oh liked it so maybe I'm too fussy.
Had the pork pie from Riverford yesterday. Very nice but not quite what I was expecting. Big chuncks of meat and looked more like game pie when cut open. Still confused by it but shall be ordering again.
Have added humous to my order for next week to go with the veggie box.
Ocado Laverstoke pork offer finished on Friday but if anyone has ordered this whilst its been on special down from £11.99 to £7.99 a kg then check the label if poss. I complained that the joints all had £8.99 labels on and had been charged as such a couple of wks ago. Order arrived again last night with the the same price error. Now I know its only £1 but imagine how many people have been caught. When I spoke to cs they said they would follow it up and contact all customers who had been over charged. They also refunded me for the pork and a couple of other items because of packing problems. I did however speak to a supervisor who called me within an hour after speaking to an unhelpful cs guy.0 -
