Important Changes to Jobseekers Allowance Sanctions

Went to the jobcentre as usual tuesday and got handed a piece of paper onlining the new jobcentre's abilities when it comes to sanctions. I Thought I would scan it in.

and why should the jobseekers be worried, well it seems most of the staff at the havent branch LIKE stopping people benefits, example myself, in the past 2 months I have had my benefits sanctioned 3 times.
Due to the "advisor" looking at my jobsearch and saying it wasnt good enough, and it's going to have to be looked at and decided as to whether you could be considered as actively seeking work.
Of which I've filled in a form to have it reconsidered and the sanction lifted twice, and then they withheld one of the lifted payments due to it not going through the system, which i was then told I "had to ask for" and was then told I might not get it due to an overpayment made in 2010 when i was on a work program.
Small note: currently I'm on the A4E work program and they saw my jobsearch the same day as the jobcentre saw it and they said it was fine, but according to the jobcentre my jobsearch has nothing to do with A4E?? yet i have to do a jobsearch for them aswell doesn't make sense.
Frankly the only thing I can see from this is a lot of people suffering at the hands of the jobcentre staff, it brings to mind Mr Burns saying excellent and rubbing his hands together., and why? this is down to PM cameron and his cut backs.
Shame cameron is going to destroy this country with the cut backs, oh well, get ready people for the crime rate to start going up because of these changes.

And what are the job centre doing to HELP people get jobs? Oh yes that's it, NOTHING!!!
They don't seem like 'changes' to me as I always thought they were the rules.
Crime rate will not go up if you are law abiding.0 -
Since the terms "could" "may" and "depends" are used really theres not much to worry about.0

I think is really absurd that you think most off the staff at your local Jobcentre 'like' stopping people's benefits. We do not stop the benefits its down to the decision makers, they look at your jobseekers agreement and then make a decision based upon the evidence you supply, if its not up to scratch you will recieve a sanction.....
The new sanction regime is basically just an adjustment to the one currently in place the only difference is the length of time a customer recieves a sanction for.
As for being on the work program and having to prove your job search to both parties, the jobcentre is correct we are the ones who process the payment, what may be ok at a4e isnt neccesarily ok at the jcp as we go on by what actions you agreed to take your jobseekers agreement which a4e dont have access to0 -

My job centre barely look at my listing of job applications and even if they do they can't check them.
The JC are no help at all. Seems we the unemployed have to do everything to try and get a job alone.0 -

The staff at the jobcentre are not responsible for getting you a job. All we can do is advise an support and guide you in the right direction. we are there to help you overcome your barriers not to do it for you.
as for people not looking at your job listings when you sign on you dont see an advisor you are usually seen by an assistant advisor who's job is to make sure you are complying with your jobseekers agreement.
I suggest if you feel that you are getting no support you ask for an appointment with a senior advisor to look at your options.0 -
CSMW so true,
If the customer is on WP then they have received support form JCP and that support is now provided by the WP provider but yes you still have to satisfy the regulations.
You expect to get 'paid' for spending a few hours per week looking for work so that is a good hourly rate! If you are still working with an adviser what exactly do you expect them to do in the few minutes you spend with you? You have all day to search for work so the adviser shouldn't be finding things you haven't already found!0 -

The adviser I see every other week when I do not sign spends 20 mins with me just saying the same old thing. Show you jobs you can apply for and when you get told by the employer you are over qualified and you ask the JC what can they do about it the reply is 'nothing' even though the job was advertised on JCD
What 'support' do you think the unemployed get? I can tell you its zero support.0 -
Currently on the Work Programme and visited to the job centre today to sign on and received this form aswell, i usally pop in with the form and back out within minute and a half usally.
But now they say i have to go back to sitting down and waiting to be seen only to take just 3-4 minutes to sign with a guy at the desk ?
Why have they made this change ?0 -

I have a set appointment and I arrive 5 mins early wait probably 20 mins, get called they ask questions and look (sometimes if they are bothered) at my job searches/applications and then I sign and off I go.0
