Important Changes to Jobseekers Allowance Sanctions

Sorry? If I want to avoid sanctions make sure I read my job seekers agreement?mauritius123 wrote: »if you want to avoid sanctions misssarah i suggest that you read your jobseekers agreement and make sure that you satisfy it's conditions. In your jobsearch, make sure that you record all relevant information re. your application. eg. telephone numbers, reference numbers, names etc.
If you feel that you are overqualified for a role (or the employer does), perhaps you should ask if they would accept you on a work trial basis, that way you would get to know each other better. To be honest the fact that you are on the work program (i am assuming that you have been unemployed for over a year) should suggest to employers that you are willing to take a step down. I would suggest that you consider other avenues into work, such as work trials, voluntary work, apprenticeships (regardless of your age) and even retraining . I was unemployed for quite a long time, and taking up voluntary work was the best thing that happened to me...gave me a feel for the routine of a work life that i had forgotten, and helped motivate me more. Everyones different i know, but at least explore other options.
I know what it says thanks and no I am not on the work programme at all. Where did I say that?
I write down the website the job was on, the reference number, the job number the job title who the job was with the email address the application went to and then I write down a date where I will follow it up.
Work trial basis? I can't even get the interview let alone the job as they know I will leave.
Being out of work for a year says to employers 'you are on the dole and you do not want to work' - fact as they all say it 'oh you have a great cv, why aren't you working' - Well give me your job and I will be!! HAHA
Today three agencies told me they will not deal with me as I have been out of work for 6 months or more.
I have a routine every day thanks and do not need to work for free to prove to people I can work when I have 20 years experience.0 -
I think the differences between different offices is absurd, some insist on a weekly sit down appointment looking at your applications and insisting on proof of them and running through jobs on their system and insisting you apply for certain ones before your next appointment and others just make fortnightly appointments and collect your forms barely looking at them.
The first was my experience for the 3 weeks I was on jsa and it was annoying but I was genuinely impressed that it wasn't given without effort being proven. The latter was the experience of a friend in another area at the same time, I found this quite disappointing!0 -
Sheesh they don't stop do they? People will end up spending more time trying to protect themselves from sanction doubts and appealing wrong decisions than jobsearching:mad:
My advice to anyone who receives this letter (I have yet to receive mine, but have read the guidance online) is not to worry, but to take it as a warning as the direction that JCP is taking which is to be more punative and less supportive. Be cautious and keep a paper trail to back you up regarding job applications and interviews just incase they spring a sanction doubt on you. Believe me, I've had three spurious sanctions applied within 10 months, but because I've documented all my dealings with them, I managed to get all three overturned at reconsideration stage. So just be prepared.
In my (long) experience of dealing with JCP, I have found most staff to be helpful, but honest in the amount of support they can actually provide. Like a poster has said, it is up to the individual to do the bulk of the work. However, like in all walks of life, you will eventually come across the a***hole, who will love these tougher punishments and will rub them in your face to provoke a reaction and will do that bit extra to make your life just that little bit more miserable. Don't give them the satisfaction.0 -

They don't seem like 'changes' to me as I always thought they were the rules.
Crime rate will not go up if you are law abiding.
Have you thought of trying to help yourself?0 -
Oh wow yeah never thought of that - hang on, I am thanks for asking.MrChandlerBing wrote: »Have you thought of trying to help yourself?
Oh now hang on, do you mean help myself like go out shoplifting?0 -

So i will dare to tell you anything I want, and i sincerely hope the jobcentre staff are hardened enough to do the same, and sanction you for not wanting to work unless you gain your dream job and your dream pay. How dare you think you are superior to to other jobseekers, honest jobseekers when there are many MANY people out there unemployed, who would give an arm and a leg to be in work, regardless of their qualifications, and I promise you many have far greater intelligence than you.
You are too good to work for 'free' even though it may lead to more permanent things, yet you are not so proud to accept money(jsa, housing benefit, council tax benefit) for 'free'.
.
Where have I said I do not want to work? Geez you are reading far more into this then I have said? Got out of the wrong side of the bed today have we?
I am applying for all types of jobs - you do not know me!
I ONLY get JSA thanks - nothing else.
I am willing to pay all that back when I get a job and since I have been paying tax for 24 years I think I am somewhat entitled to a bit of help.0 -
They have never met me or spoken to me so yeah wow they came to that conclusion all on their own.mauritius123 wrote: »did you never stop to think that some people have a heart and would prefer to write that you are overqualified rather than 'unfortunately, due to your personality, your rudeness and the fact that you think you are better than you are we do not feel that we could put you forward to any of the companies that we deal with'0 -

You really need to sort yourself out, and fast because the new sanction regime has obviously been made thanks to people like you.
unbelieveable

I have no kidsmauritius123 wrote: »nice try with the reverse psychology. You are an idiot. i have had a wonderful day thank you. spoiled by an idiot who does not think before she speaks. Everyone pays tax, and no doubt you will draw it out via a pension when you retire. What more do you want? where do you think the money comes from to send your kids to school? where does the money come from to subsidise jobseekers' rent? jesus you now wish to take that money now, and no doubt happily accept it also when you retire. Why bother paying tax in the first place??? let everyone else send your kids to school whilst you can live the life of someone who can afford to be picky. what a joke. You really should use your brain. Anyway, there is no point trying to reason with the unreasonable. I hope the new anctions hit you, and hit you hard. maybe then you will realise the reality of the society we live in.
You are still to tell me how I will get a sanction
No answer? I guessed not!
I am living no life at all thanks you nasty person!!0 -
