I would be inclined to believe the buyer its hard to believe that a scammer would fold at the first mention of the police. It could be that he owed paypal money either on that or another account.

yup, thats what he was saying, he owed them money from some time ago so they froze the payment he sent to me.

although you'd have to question paypal's behaviour, if they'd frozen payments he'd received then thats fair enough, but they froze a payment he'd sent, ridiculous!

btw, sorry floflo, your response appears above my post as i had to delete the original post as i lost all the text whilst editing

    Mortgage-free Glee!
I have just read through this thread and pleased it appears to have a happy ending ......however I am a bit pedantic and want to make something a bit clearer

    consequential loss

This is paid over and above the price of the SD ..... I have used it for sending plane tickets for example..... the contents of the had a face value of 500 quid that was covered in price of SD , but extra was paid for the consequences of loss/delay ....... you can pay for up to 10 000.

The whole holiday depended on the tickets being there by 1 the next day! Which of course was a lot more than the 500 that the tickets were worth

I am at a loss to understand why Royal mail are able to provide proof in a PDF format yet not on their tracking page, that makes no sense at all and I wonder what is really going on with RM?

cant remember the customer representatives exacts words as I was in shock of learning that it won't appear online.

but it was either because the postie obtained 1 signature for 2 items to the same recipient, or that the postie didn't sign the card on which they collect the signatures at the end of his daily routine.

although i dont believe any of those 2 reasons justifies an online exclusion for my tracking ref

paypal are a bunch of poo eaters. i defo thinks that paypal were up to summat dodgy wid dis geezers payment and he was a genuine buyer. congrats on getting ur money back, just goes to show what constructive dialogue can do!!

if i was you i would still get on the phone to royal mail though, whatever the reason for confirmation not appearing online, they are to blame for this stupid mess.

After reading https://www.paypalsucks.com and https://www.paypalwarning.com - i never use paypal. I have myself had dealings with them in a similer way, where i lost money - never again! I would prefer to use another service like googles service, bank transfer, nochex or moneygram. no way would i touch paypal with a barge pole! They offer absolutly NO protection to either seller OR buyer. All they care about, is getting the money themself.

I sold an item on ebay - it was a lens. Sent it special delivery, and the buyer said he didnt get it. i traced it with royal mail, who said it hadnt arrived yet to him and to give it up untill 1pm. he put a chargeback on, saying he didnt get it - he did, it was signed for at 12:30 the day after i posted.

they gave him back his money - he kept the lens and i was out of pocket over £100. Told the guy i would take him to court, and som eother bull and he finally paid me (well, after i called him)

Never again will i use the service they call paypal - no pal of mine!

Paypal claimed that the signature used by the guy was not his..... as it didnt match his - but he could have scribbled ANYTHING
Never do things tomorow when you can do them today.

if the buyer paid straight into the sellers account then why on earth would he have performed a chargeback in the first place, and that too so quick after paying for an item, chance is that the transaction wouldnt even have appeared on their online statement that quick for them to query it, this must be paypal up to no good.
