What's your pet hate about comping?

Probably a bad example but I'm exhausted
Anyway like you say people wont agree on the same things, life goes on

Anyway, you'll never stop people bumping - any more than I'll get people to stop saying "should of" instead of "should have" :rotfl:
A friend of a friend of mine has just had a tattoo done that says "should of" TWICE. I saw the picture of it on FB. It's awful
There's a daily comp at the moment to win a dog bowl - that one keeps being bumped with people either saying they're winning, or not winning :wall:0 -
I just want to clarify re bumping. The actual rule, copied from MSE rules, says:
"Can we "bump" threads? For those that don't know, "bumping" is where a forum user who hasn't received a reply to a question comes back and replies on the thread to "bump" the thread back to the first page of the board it's on, making it more prominent.
No, we'd rather people don't do this as it annoys others. Questions are sometimes not answered because the information is easily found elsewhere on the site and forum. If your question's not been answered try searching the MoneySavingExpert.com main site then the forum."
I.e. it's when someone bumps deliberately with the motive of bringing the thread to the top of the list. I think it gets confusing because we also talk about bumping as happening generically when adding to a thread. It is bumping, but that is not actually breaking the forum rules.
As someone said above, that doesn't mean it's wrong to ask people to stop doing it. We can ask whether it is a written, or unwritten rule, but if it was up to me, I would save asking not to bump only for the times when it is has become quite prolific, and agree, probably not so much when the thread is near the start anyway.
It's personal choice both ways, but my preference is that I quite like a little banter and fun in the posts, as long as it doesn't go on too long, or bumps an old post forward for no good reason. I think it would be a shame to lose that fun aspect here. As I said earlier, this forum seems to be so angry and aggressive lately - and no, I'm not talking about you Lucky OneBut a little laughter might be the medicine this forum needs at the mo IMHO

But then you get moaned at for bumping because people have subscribed to the thread and they're checking emails/subscriptions needlessly.
I think it's best if the main board is kept to comps and chat happens in CCC.0 -
I've been here a few years now & I have to say once one person has bumped a thread to say thanks then someone else joins in & so & so. just look at the win £10,000 in a newspaper thread to see this happening.
It goes on a lot.
There is one rule for everyone whoever they are, if it's there first day or they have been here since the first day the comping board started xxx
I apologise for my ignorance but to quote you: £10,000 thread! Peeps have been good enough to post the answers, one by one or such, as they found them.
Many people have wanted to thank in person, as sometimes happens on this board, many people can't get or afford the paper - particularly this type of comp. And believe me, its quite nice to see the human touch now and again! Do you not agree that occasionally its nice to see and enjoy banter between forum members.
Yes! Let's cut some slack now and again!MILITARY WIVES CHOIRSHELP for HEROES0 -
In other news.
Don't dance in bed whilst smoking, it causes fires. My room is smoky and I have a wet mattress and ruined sheets.
I'll let you know when I can think of something which ties this up with comping so it becomes a pet hate....Golly, I've got the newt pregnant...

Ok you have to tell me what the tattoo says I can't think of anything sensible that has should of twice in it...Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.
