Hi Guys, I'm not certain, but I think I might be guilty for first bringing up 'comping police' here. If anyone else wants to claim it though, I won't mind :D

For me the term relates to people who come across as wanting to dictate to everyone about their own unwritten 'rules' about comping. I sincerely apologise to anyone who feels offended by this term and I will try to resist the urge to use it another time. But can I ask in return that others equally try to resist things that some of us find offensive.

It seems to me that most of us have no intention to offend. I certainly don't. I never thought of 'Comping Police' as offensive (to me it isn't). I meant it as merely short cut word. Perhaps we should all try to be a little more careful about how we speak to each other? I will definitely try and do that. It's not about what is said, more about how it's said, that seems to give offence. If you agree, perhaps we can all call a truce and see if we can just be a little nicer to each other. Wading through this forum sometimes feels like walking over a minefield.

Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.
I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I'm meant to be
I'm not scared to be seen
    I make no apology

I hate upsetting people, it worries me for ages afterwards I actually make myself ill sometimes through the worry.

The bumping thing is a forum rule & it is annoying to me so that's why I ask people to not do it as it affects my comping xxx

    Firstly *big hugs*

You shouldn't worry about upsetting people on the internets; it's almost impossible not to.

Secondly if the thread bumping is bothering you then you have every right to say so but you will then get comments from people who find your complaining as annoying as you find the bumping. You are both right.

If you get upset by the comments you get afterwards then don't read them.

True dat! Also, I think the noobs would probably appreciate a private message rather than a public shaming? (Not that that is the intention of course)

And repeat offenders could go into the forum jail :D

I think this thread has aired some stuff which is great. Healthy! Yay all of us.

I think at times when new members post the answer to the comp they think they are actually entering the competition by doing it, bless.......

incorrect "correct answers" IPC are good at these, recent answers have been Jane Horricks (should be Horrocks) Michel Roux is a judge on Masterchef - no he's a judge on Masterchef - the Professionals & Mother's day is in March with April being an incorrect answer when it can be in March or April

People putting the answer to the competition when the Op has clearly written in the comp post Please do not post the answer, at site owner's request.

It is only hurting them self as we will not be able to post the comps any more
