What's your pet hate about comping?

They looked a bit miffed when I mentioned it to them as they had spent three days "entering" hundreds of comps via that method :-)0 -
No offence LuckyOne, whilst I think your "no bumping" campaign is very worthy, it may perhaps require slightly more judicious useage?
If something is on the first page, it has always been acceptable to use that as a time to say thanks to prolific posters who otherwise don't get thanked personally.
In this comp for example https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4526023 EDC posted 3 minutes after the OP - it seems a little overzealous to chastise her for her post when she is a very law-abiding forum member

I bump anyone who has needlessly bumped the threads on the main board.
This was a needless bump on the main board.
The reason why I jumped straight in with the no bumping comment was to stop any more people bumping the thread, if a long time poster bumps the thread to say thank you, then this is a green light to everyone else that bumping the threads to say thank you is allowed as this advanced member has done it
It would be much better to start a thread in the compers chat section saying I want to thank whoever as they do a great job.
This is the correct section to do that in & does not disrupt the baords xxxThis Post Has Been Sponsored ByChocolate0 -
It annoys me when people enter competitions who obviously haven't read the restrictions, for example, I entered a competition a few weeks ago on Facebook, and it was one where you had to upload a photo and get people to vote for you, so you could see all the other entrants. It clearly said in the terms and conditions on the entry page that you had to be over 18 to enter. Yet loads of school aged children were entering!0

That doesn't really follow - what normally happens is that other forum members then "thank" the second post in order to express their appreciation to the OP and agree with the sentiment.
It's always happened like that with the magazine postings etc for as long as I've been here
Bumping something that is already on the first page shouldn't disrupt anything for anyone, really.Living with Lupus is like juggling with butterflies0 -

Agree on both your posts Alf xxxMILITARY WIVES CHOIRSHELP for HEROES0 -
I've been here a few years now & I have to say once one person has bumped a thread to say thanks then someone else joins in & so & so. just look at the win £10,000 in a newspaper thread to see this happening.
It goes on a lot.
There is one rule for everyone whoever they are, if it's there first day or they have been here since the first day the comping board started xxxThis Post Has Been Sponsored ByChocolate0 -

That one is SUPPOSED to be bumped to keep it at the top of the first page as it is a one-day only entry and people may well miss it otherwise. Especially end-date compers who have already completed all the E: 31/03 comps.
It the same with the current Classic FM Kindle and books comp - or any other hourly entry comp - they are deliberately kept as close to the top as possible in addition to the bumps serving as a reminder to enter for anyone subscribed to the thread.
This is why I commented on the need for judicious and discretionary use of the "no bump" emoticon. Not all comps are created equal
Anyway, you'll never stop people bumping - any more than I'll get people to stop saying "should of" instead of "should have" :rotfl:Living with Lupus is like juggling with butterflies0 -

I agree! It's like complaining every time you haven't won the lottery!0 -
Good Lord I go off to have tea and when I get back it's back on bumping again...
Some threads just end up being a bump fest ie the win a house one atm and sometimes you just have to live with it.Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.
