Opt out boxes hidden below the submit button

And when the typeface for the opt in/out clause is so small it takes ages to decide if you are meant to tick to opt out or opt in...

As in One Yorkshire Lass - we hardly ever seem to see things the same way, but I never take that the wrong way, and I suspect she would say the same - I might be wrong :D

I can't really say I've given it much thought tbh. I reply to the content of the message regardless of who's posted it :)

So I spot a duplicate post.

I usually post the same old guff ie:

    Sorry but is here:

    I'll pm a BG

    found via :

    sent to:

It just puzzles me why many then thank the OP of the duplicate but not my post.
I know thanks are not the big thing & I'm not after a flame war on that topic as we've had loads & the hypocrites will just play but it just makes me wonder if sorting the merge & spotting it is seen as secondary?

I think it's just that many people don't read more than the first post. You can see that happen when a comp turns out to be very very dodgy and while people are discussing this in several posts, lots of other people are cheerfully entering and thanking the OP.
  • Take your pick weeowens:
    • Some MSE-rs will say you're being rude by pointing it out
    • Some will say 'why does it matter, it doesn't affect my coming'
    • Some will be silently thankful that someone else is doing it so they don't have to
    • Some will plainly have no idea what you're talking about
    • Some will be annoyed that you're bumping a thread so have no intention of thanking you

I'll take this opportunity to say thank you for all the work you put in to keep the board running smoothly :T

I'm really beginning to hate (picture effort) comps, particularly the ones that ask you to post a pic of yourself doing something stupid, like give us your most shocked face  :(
  • Weeowens - I must admit I usually thank a dupe poster even though it is a dupe as a bit of a thanks anyway. We do appreciate you doing all the rubbish but needed jobs such as sorting merges!

Not so much a hate more a mild "really?" when the prize is a years supply of something say chocolate and frankly the amount of the prize wouldn't last a month. If the prize is twelve boxes then say so don't try and make out it's better than it is. Same for your gas and electricity paid for a year when it's actually £1000 nice prize yes; my gas and electricity for a year no.

Re tweets that are too long!

I mean what do you take out of the re tweet to be able to send it. Then you have not re tweeted what they want you to re tweet so are you even entered into the comp?

LOL - I have found this niggle sometimes too. What I have done is to go ahead and doctor the tweet, leaving in all the relevant info. I think it's the best option because otherwise you can't tweet and therefore can't gain an entry in the comp. At least this way you have a chance. Good luck :)
