Thanks for all birthday wishes.
So quick update, managed to get JSA sorted on birthday.
Sat test on friday in a different test centre, sadly failed due to two majors. One of which was very unlucky. So I'm resitting test next monday (12th).
Sadly that's another £200! Paid the £45 test fee out of JSA and the £105 budgeting loan I'd set aside for capital one will also have to go towards it.
which leaves me £50 to find by next week but I'll manage somehow.
GAH!
Oh paid electric with some birthday money an aunt gave me. so £70 paid.
All getting a bit tight financially, there is only so long I can keep this up. I'm hoping its third time lucky. I really need to get stuck into the capital one money, but the cash just isnt there for now. See what I can do with ebay.0 -

Thanks, I really hope this is the last time. Third time lucky!
Just did a big shop on tesco online, I've enough for at least two weeks food and it came to £44 incl delivery (£50 spend = £10 off code).
Delivery was £3.50 and the bus to the store would have cost that alone, so it works out a good bit cheaper apart from the reduced stuff. Still much cheaper than the local shop or takeaways and I then eat better too. I love the everyday value stuff, so cheap!
Monday will be a sorting and photographing for ebay day, I need a few extra quid this week!0 -
As someone who took the test as a 'mature driver' (16 years of point-free licensed driving in the US and Germany counts for nothing in the UK!), I feel your pain.
That being said, 2.5 years on, I'm glad I went through the lessons and passed the test. A trying time, but well worth it after the fact.
This is a stepping stone towards better things, good on you for making it happen!0 -
Hi UK American,
Its a pre-condition for a new career for me so literally a gateway to better things hopefully. Having said that some of the things you can fail on are slightly insane.
In Northern Ireland its even stranger, your not taught on the motorway at all (your not allowed on it until a year after passing test) but spend a huge amount of time doing slightly pointless bloody dressage with a car.
I'm hoping I'm almost at the end of the whole thing. I honestly found the finals of my degree less stressful than the past 6 weeks learning, passing seems to be a bit of luck as much as anything lol0 -
hmmm just had a thought. I'm over the limit on capital one but about 350 below the limit on my hsbc card. Thinking, transfer some of capital one over so im back down below the limit and stop getting charged fee's (£24 a month). I cleared up hsbc so I have no backlog there. hmmmmm. Wonder is this doable.0

Tesco shopping just arrived, started off at £44 and is now £48.
Really annoying and somehow they have missed balsamic as well, so really its a £5 up on price I thought I was paying.
Just put in a balance transfer request of £275 from capital one to HSBC.
Cheaper interest and should have me back below spending limit on both cards. Just gives me a bit of breathing space and avoid racking up additional charges each month,0 -
Good idea to do that to avoid charges if you can. Tesco delivery can be frustrating as the prices change but I'm also an everyday value convert. All the fruit, veg, biscuits, cereal bars etc are great. Get tesco normal for most other things and only buy branded coffee and bread.K&Co (0%) [STRIKE]£58.40[/STRIKE] £0; Nat West O/D (18%) [STRIKE] £950 [/STRIKE] £937.26 Barclaycard (21.9%) [STRIKE]£1,039.01[/STRIKE] £799.06; Barclayloan [STRIKE]£4,756[/STRIKE] £4,637; mum (0%) [STRIKE]£35,000[/STRIKE] £35,000 0% Total Debt [STRIKE]£41,803.41[/STRIKE] £41,373.32 :eek:0
