  • oh bless you!
    with me,the nerves increased more with each test i took! on my third,someone suggested i took a couple of paracetamol 30 mins before start of test, maybe worth a try?

    in the meantime,I looked at your other post (about CC debt) and replied,mainly to bump it for you! have you looked into the CCA and other stuff suggested regarding this debt?

    good luck,keep your chin up!

    I'm not too sure what to do really, I had never planned to default. I had sorted HSBC first and planned to do capital one next, in retrospect I should have rang them and sorted a payment plan much earlier. Still I am defaulted now so only thing to do is get it dealt with. I have no Idea what CCA is? I'll look into it.
  • I just had a look into that CCA business. As much as I might enjoy the legal sport of it, the debt is £970. That could be paid off within 18mths and resolved and credit rating started to be rebuilt from this month onward, rather than rowing backwards and forwards with various debt collection companies for years.

    I dunno, maybe thats a simplistic approach?

    The ability to drive is indeed an investment in yourself, as you mention. Well done on you, for keeping at it.

    Thursday--new centre, new beginning. Good luck! :-)
  • Ok spoke to FPC on the phone today, after an initial payment today of £35, they have agreed on £36.10 a month. That's only a pound more than capital one and next payment not due until Dec 17th.

    Even if they take 15% thats still less than the interest was on the card (29%)

    Just have £33 quid to pay HSBC on the 20th and that's me caught up and it goes back down to about £20 a month.

    So total month credit card outgoings will be about £55-60. Not Ideal, once test and xmas is over I plan a serious attack on capital one to get it cleared.

    Well done for making that call! It's nerve wracking picking the phone up and wondering what sort of response you'll get!!! But a great monthly payment result and all sounds like it's back under control for you.

    Do you have a Noddle account? It's a free credit check site that will help you keep an eye on things while you're paying debts off etc. It's just http://www.noddle.co.uk. A legitimate site which I find very useful.

    Ooh, have just looked at mine and all my bad stuff falls off on this date next year! Wooh to that!

    Anyway, back to you! How are you feeling about tomorrow? Is the Estate Agent prepared to wait and see what result you get? The weather is meant to be ok tomorrow too, so that's a bonus!
  • Muffintops, It's all coming to a head really, driving is a huge part of the job and as I don't have a car so I'd be using one of theirs, so they are getting a bit miffed and nervous to say the least. Job offer is still open, but I think thursday is really the last go before I lose the offer.

    I just need a bit of luck with the test really, this is the fourth time! I honestly never thought it would be this hard.

    On a much happier note. Once I make the payment to HSBC this month that's Goal one achieved as I'm back under overdraft limit, up to date with capital one/FPC and then up to date with HSBC and no late fees/overlimit fees, so thats something to look forward to

    I'll still be broke, but if I can manage being up to date on payments and still have food in the fridge that's progress. :)

    Goal one – (2 months or end of Dec)
    So the first goal is financial stability, So that I am not over overdraft limit and no late fees and return to making payments on time. (also start repairing credit rating by doing this)

    I think goal two needs a bit of work, In terms of 6 month and 12 month goals.
  • OK, so I think having goal two so far away and so broad, isn't ideal.

    This isn't hugely drastic but I'm trying to push on and keep it realistic based on the money I have coming in at present. Ideally I would like this done a bit faster.

    Goal two (June 2013 or 6 months)

    Off JSA
    Capital one - reduced from £976 -> £500
    Budgeting loan paid off in full
    HSBC ->£500
    No late payments/going over overdraft.
    Holiday (nothing too mad, but week somewhere)

    Goal three (Dec 2013)
    Capital one £500->£0
    HSBC £500->£0
    No late payments/going over overdraft.
    Overdraft to -£500
    Open Cash ISA
    (I want overdraft cleared first but this is a bit of a symbolic goal with clearing credit card debt and saving for future starting)
