Booked my test tonight, Nov 2nd. £45 but paid for test with ebay proceeds.
I should still be about £12 ahead after test and postage, still few items to be paid for etc.0 -
Ok update,
Went to see HSBC, got new card and secure key. I've made a payment of £44 pounds, the minimum payment was £65 so its a late fee of £12 but it means By next month I should be able to make the full minimum payment on time and no more fee's.
Capital one will have to be sorted out next.
My last two items finish this weekend on ebay, so hopefully that should be a few pounds raised towards lessons remaining driving lessons.
Bike is finished and up for sale on gumtree, hoping that goes soon, but its last week of the month so it may end up staying til payday.
Back in real life I'm full of the cold, my relationship with my gf of six years is pretty rough to point of breaking and it's my birthday at the end of the month.
I'm hoping this period is the dark before the light begins.0 -
Todays update. Spent day in bed with savage manflu. Bleurgh.
Had to cancel driving lesson, waste of money.
Sold another item on Ebay for £19. I've a few more things to list so will get on that monday.
NSD as finished off last of fridays curry and had coke in fridge.0 -
Right debts in full.
HSBC CC £650 25.9% Payment of £44 this month so £21 behind on payments.
HSBC overdraft £600
Capital one £1000 30% apr - £200 behind on payments. This is only a few months but £35 per month becomes £60 per month with fees!
Gonna try and pay them £100 this month.
Budgeting loan JSA £440 0%
capital one is the pressing one now.0 -
hope you'refeeling better soon smithfield.
I'm just wondering-what did you do before you did your degree? Im wondering if it's something bike related which is why you never learnt to drive. (Hubby is heavily into bikes and didn't learn until his late twenties-i was 30 as i was too scared-i still am!!)
Could you get a job in that field to tide you over? YOu did a degree in law-what about evetually becoming a lawyer I hear they make lots of money you know!!0 -
I'm getting there, another couple of days I think. Bleugh.
I worked for the Court Service before University and most Courthouses are in major towns, so it isn't a problem, if a bit more time consuming to get the bus/train. I also grew up close to the city centre so anyone I knew was a few pounds in a taxi away and city centre parking is very expensive.
What most people don't know is that very few of the people who do a Law degree ever practice. I attended, what would be one of the top 20 (I think my course was rated 12th) courses in the UK. Out of my year say, 270 students all with AAA at A level maybe 40 would go on to practice at the minute (in good times it's maybe 60-70).
My advice to anyone would be to be an accountant/doctor/dentist or engineer (if your willing to travel) lol.
I'm getting into Real Estate, people always need to live somewhere whether its renting or buying. Plus I like houses.
In terms of learning to drive late, I had a horrible instructor the first time I tried and gave up, but this time with a job offer on table I have had to soldier on. It's not been easy for some reason it hasn't come naturally to me sadly!
Bikes are a hobby/mania. lol Cracking chicken by the way.0 -
I agree Smithfield. I'm a legal assistant but no law degree, most of my colleagues have law degrees but no lpc and some have both but never got accepted on a training contract. I wouldn't recommend law as a degree but to go in and work your way up to doing your ilex. You can be a judge with ilex now and you study part time while working.K&Co (0%) [STRIKE]£58.40[/STRIKE] £0; Nat West O/D (18%) [STRIKE] £950 [/STRIKE] £937.26 Barclaycard (21.9%) [STRIKE]£1,039.01[/STRIKE] £799.06; Barclayloan [STRIKE]£4,756[/STRIKE] £4,637; mum (0%) [STRIKE]£35,000[/STRIKE] £35,000 0% Total Debt [STRIKE]£41,803.41[/STRIKE] £41,373.32 :eek:0

I'm in NI where postgrad training is bit different.
The whole LPC thing in England is a total scam. There is no way people should be allowed to start one without a training contract. All they end up doing is spending 10k and leaving with nothing chasing the same poorly paid paralegal posts they struggle to get with lack of experience.0 -
Eeek, Expensive day!
Went for a coffee with Gf for a bit of a chat, All in this cost me close on £10
Still don't feel well, bought night nurse = £5.56
Then I bought bits for a large pot of chili con carne, it was far too expensive as bought locally and I over paid.
onions and peppers (+ginger for tea) = £1.60
Mince = £3.10 (pound)
Kidney beans 18p (cupboard)
Tomatoes £1.50 for two cans grrr. (80p in sainsburys!)
I had garlic and chili etc already.
Rice 40p (everyday value tesco).
I should get 3 at least dinners from this though.
Bought coke and a packet of sweets = £2.55.
On the plus side I sold an item tonight for £11 on ebay, so that offsets the coffee I suppose and the rest isn't too bad then.
I just withdrew £75 from paypal for the next 5 driving lessons from ebay items (I've not been paid for todays item so this isnt included)
Someone is coming to look at bike tomorrow, fingers crossed.0 -
You need to look at more saving tips on here re food. Seems you are still over spending.
