OH has picked picked up the bill for repairing the car since he's back to work next week. Unfortunately until he passes his test it means I need to take him to and pick him up from work. Told him he'll need to finish sharp so I can get to work on time.
Picked up lots of bits and pieces for packed lunches today. Trying to get a stock built up that includes cordial, rice, pasta etc so that once I shift jobs I have stuff already bought. Paid off an extra £30 to cc, my snowball says 43 months to go. Hoping I can reduce that dramatically! Since OH is going to be working nights then I might as well put in a bit of time on my second job/surveys etc which I've let slide.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Morning, how is everyone? No word yet on new job. But at least in the interim I have my current temp job. I have been paying a few pounds here and there to my nasty cc (must add £6.60 to my 2014 total as had a small win on lotto).
OH is back to work (he's not paid till next week), and says he'll pay me back once he's paid. But he did pay for the car to be fixed.
Food wise, trying not to waste things but can be diffcult. I got a voucher from the paper last week for Aldi..... then forgot to use it!!!! Grrrrr. Difficult to meal plan when we're all working such different hours. Sausages got cooked off and I had them with beans. OH had them with gravy and peas and SS had them with potatoes and sauce. But at least stuff is getting used. Trying to plan ahead for lunches as well. Realised that 2 packs of cold meat will only last OH and I 3 days so I may have pasta 1 or 2 days and there may be some cheese and pickle sarnies made as well!CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. how about couscous salad Uni? When I was working I would make up a huge bowl, mix it with spring onion, diced pepper etc, then use some cooked meat/cheese what ever for topping, split it into tupperware tubs and fridge those, in the morning get one out, put your topping of choice on and you are good to go!Must use my stash up!0

Sounds good KW, think I'll try that. I know OH won't go for that (he can be fussy about packed lunches), but I will. Thats a good way to use up things too.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Hello, how is everyone?
firstly KW - thank you I had couscous salad for lunch (OH tried it and liked it as well!) it was lovely I put lots of veggies through it and some lime zest.
What's been happening? Well OH's job is no more (long story) and we're not sure he'll be paid for the work he's done this week!! Waiting to see what happens but can't believe we're back to square one again. Still no word for my new role but where I am have advertised a role (perm) I can do but never told me it was coming up. I only asked a few days ago and they never said, wondering if they would prefer to keep me in the role I'm in!!!!
OH is cooking tonight so not sure what he's making. Hope everyone is well. No more extra payments to cc till I get paid tomorrow.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Yay to the couscous - but blast it to every thing else!
Why is it always 1 step forward and 2 steps back :mad:Must use my stash up!0 -
I know KW, I'm a bit fed up tbh. OH is feeling quite down. Last night's dinner ended up being takeaway as he couldn't be bothered cooking (he'd ordered it before I got home otherwise I would have made something and saved us some money!).
Not been paid yet. It should appear in my account at some point today. Lots to do tomorrow, also visiting family so might take the opportunity to clear out some stuff I don't wear to go to a friend of my Mum's. She's the one I mentioned before that her OH left and she was left in a huge mess. Any spare money she has always gets spent on her daughter so she was wearing thread bare clothes. Also not working monday as we get the bank holiday, means less wages next week but its at least a day off.
Plans for this weekend is to get all the bedding washed (if I can get it line dried), get some paperwork sorted and tidy up the house.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Food shop done today, managed to stretch last weeks food out a little more. Managed to get reduced crumpets (20p), so that was breakfast and a snack sorted. SS seems to have been helping himself to all the chocolate biscuits (out of a pack of 8, 7 disappeared in one night) yet denied it so we've found an other hiding place (bad we have to hide stuff but SS will happily buy stuff for himself and rarely share and help himself to our stuff without asking). We've set up viewings for flats for him next week, he's suddenly got cold feet about it. OH thinks he's either been trying to make us believe he really wants to move out and is so hard done by or just playing games when he really knows how easy he has things. He's not happy but he needs to realise that money doesn't grow on trees and he's basically taking the mick. I've downloaded some spreadsheets from here and I think he is slowly realising just how much it takes to run a home. We've told him he's lucky as he has a friend to move in with him and share the bills, but he doesn't seem to see that. I think the final straw for OH was the fact SS just left all his washing in the kitchen and expected us to do it. I said to him this morning (after he asked why it wasn't done), that if he wanted washing done then he knows how to turn on the washing machine.
The long weekend has flown in, I was hoping to feel a bit more relaxed before going back to work. But at least I got all the bedding washed (except SS's who refused to get up at 2pm so the bedding could be washed) and line dried, more items for the stock cupboard and managed to get a few more items cleared out.
Hope everyone is well and having a good bank holiday.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. How is everyone?
I have start date for new job! I start in a week!!!! Downside means I won't get paid till end of June! So every penny counts now. I have car tax at end of this month, I was thinking about just putting 6 months on it but I think I'll stretch the budget and go for the year as I know in the new job my budget will be very tight. Trying to put as much aside as I can as i'll have the bills at the end of this month, my parking bill (no way round that), fuel to buy and food shopping. OH owes me money but he's not due to start his new job for a few weeks yet so we don't know when he'll get paid.
So, I'm looking for some help please. What other ways can I boost my budget?
I already:
meal plan
shopping list and shop at Aldi
do quidco/toluna/valued opinions/you gov/onepoll
Is there anything else I can do?
All suggestions greatly appreciated!!!!CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -
Sausages for tea tonight, feeling quite chuffed with myself we would normally have gone for a takeaway. Need to sort the shopping list for tomorrow. Done not too badly this week, haven't wasted too much.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera.
