Went home "home" to see the family which was nice but I was definitely ready to come back to London!
Back at work today which is a bit of a shock to the system to say the least!
Sorry to hear you didn't get the job. Keep your chin up though, you'll get therex
Thanks Pencakes, glad you had a good time. How is everyone?
Ok I'm back doing my tarot. First reading has just killed my landline handset (needs charging) so having a coffee and a mince pie (still trying to use everything up) and the handset is on charging whilst I'm on here.
Ok, what have I been up to today?
Christmas decorations are packed away. Although one of the door decorations has pulled off some of the paint on the living room wall! (it was put on with blu-tack)
Washing on, kitchen tidied, leftover sausages used in brunch with eggs and beans and served with toast.
Tidied away the xmas cards, kept the ones I wanted to keep and cut up the rest to use as tags or decoupage for next christmas. SIL had given me a fabric xmas bag which I've put all the xmas gift bags, xmas cards (box of for neighbours rather than home made), xmas crackers etc and I've put that in my office.
Found $20 canadian dollars so I'll see how much the PO give me and that can go towards end of Jan bills.
OH has asked me what I would like for my birthday so I've asked for the day/night cream I use. I'm out of the night cream I normally use and half way through the day cream. I've been using some of the samples I got through as freebies. I have enough of everything else (shower gel, body lotion, perfume, soap, hair conditioner).
My eczema is all up on my hands so no rings on today (too painful), its also come out on my chest and shoulders. I can only assume its stress of not having a job! I have Dermol from the doctor but it doesn't seem to be shifting it.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Back doing my tarot (and glad to have it) no redundancy to fall back on this time. Yes I have my pension money (from my last perm job) but thats not even enough for one month's bills (about 2 weeks worth). So I am thinking of everything I can.
He has a meeting tomorrow to see if he is allowed to transfer from JSA to the New Enterprise Allowance. It is slightly less than JSA (and only lasts 26 weeks) but he gets lots of help about setting up his own business and anything he earns from his business, he gets to keep without it affecting his allowance! So working on this is also keeping him busy...we could end up a pair of self employed folk at this rate!!
Hope you are feeling better today, good luck with everything xx

I have fingers and toes crossed!
My housemate is looking for a job too so I see just how frustrating it can get.
I know its a different situation for me as I have a job, but after a ridiculously expensive end to 2012, I am literally living on fresh air at the moment so maybe we can support each other in some real MSE january efforts!
Stress will definitely be a factor for your skin. Have you ever used Oilatum? My little sister used it in the bath for her eczema and it seemed to help a lot.Total: £50,676 £0 🥳 The journey to debt freedom0 -
Morning All
Keiss, good luck to your OH. Tell him to try CWjobs, lots of software engineer jobs on there.
Pencakes, I may try Oilatum as my skin is sooo sore.
I barely slept last night. I used to suffer really badly from insomnia. Especially whilst at uni. I can only assume its stress. Mum and Dad are having broadband issues, I have no idea how to fix it but Dad seems to think that as I do IT I must know everything. Its a pain believe me.
Took OH to work this morning and then went to next town to go to supermarkets. They didn't open till 8 so I had half an hour to kill. I was bad and went and got a coffee and a donut from McD's!. I did need more caffeine as I was so sleepy as I'd barely slept.
I got 2 rolls of christmas paper for 16p. So its been put away for next christmas. Got food shopping and some parsley seeds. Ald*'s overcharged me by 15p. So I went back in and the assistant manager asked me why I was bothering over 15p!!! :eek:CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Ok, achieved so far:-
Bolognaise simmering away in the SC (still need to tidy the kitchen)
A few more jobs applied for, not heard anything back. Assuming that most companies/agencies will not be back till 7th?
Done some tarot, though today so far its only been about £1.50. Better than nothing but a little more would have been nice (managed about £20 in 2 hours last night).CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. SS is in a mood. He's been asked, no make that told repeatedly not to eat in his room as plates/bowls etc just get left up there with food debris on them. Yuck
. Last night he goes to work and his room's a tip (again) and plates on the floor. So said to him again about it this morning. He then decides to take the downstairs tv remote upstairs with him! Not funny. He's nearly 22! He has a tv in his room and he knew I'd be back around 7:30 from dropping his Dad off. I think he's in the huff as he normally takes his Dad to work in the morning. He's the only one in the household with a full time perm job yet takes £15 a week off his Dad for petrol. SS drives a 1.2L car and I drive a 1.4L and me taking his Dad in doesn't cost me that! We've said to him before but he knows best. His final payment on his car is due this month (balloon payment) and he's saved up nothing. I've decided (and tell me if you think this is harsh) that I'm not allowing him to go for more finance. He's had his car a little over a year and every time he needs to spend money the finance has been the excuse (after paying digs and his car he has £700 a month to play with and he says he needs 'treat' money). His friends all have bigger cars (well their parents do and his friends borrow the cars but oh no he knows better), so he wants to trade in his car and take out more finance to get an older but bigger car. So since all his attitude, lack of respect (he's still not paid SIL for the bed he ruined at hers and finds the whole thing funny!) and his whole general demeanour he can go whistle. If he takes out more finance he's gone. I've had enough.
We've not told SS I'm out of work. Why? He's very nosey and passes a lot of info back to his sister. She tried before to tell tales about me to an employer a few years ago. Thankfully it backfired on her. So we tend to keep certain details away from him. Also we've stopped telling him when we'll be out etc as he was having folk in the house uninvited that were rooting through the house and yet he thought this was normal!!!!! OH has told SS I'm working from home next week. He's (SS) not happy as he's taken next week off to save petrol money since he's not saved a penny to his balloon payment. We honestly think he's on shaky ground at his work too. His attitude we've seen with us, SIL, his cousins (one told him if he spoke to them or us again like that he was getting punched) so he must be doing it at his work. He's been lucky, we got him the job. 16K and a pension and he doesn't have any qualifications! He doesn't appreciate how lucky he is. He thinks he's on awful money. We've tried to tell him if he loses that job he might be lucky to get something of half that wage elsewhere but no again he knows better.
Off to the CS this morning, pay some money into the bank and change my canadian dollars I found. But need to go wrap Mum's birthday present first. Not cleared my clothes yet thats going to have to wait for another day unfortunately.
Did a bit more tarot last night and got about another £8. Week so far is about £39. Will do some more tonight as will be busy today.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Morning, sounds like you've had a hectic couple of days. Your SS is very lucky but definitely thinks he "deserves" more (without having to earn it) which is pretty common of younger people at the moment. My half sister is 19, still at home and has no job. Yet she can't believe my mum is refusing to pay for her to go on nights out etc. She genuinely thinks my mum is in the wrong.
It must be driving you nuts. I wish I could offer some advice but I fear he won't change unless he sees it himself..
My housemate said she's been getting a lot of out of office message from agencies so I imagine they are all back on Monday. Lucky them! I gave her the details of the lady who got me my job and she's meeting her today about a 6 month contract so fingers crossed! She's a bit down at the mo so it'd be nice if she had something even if its only temporary.
Need to buy myself a season ticket for my travel to work.. if you buy a yearly ticket it saves you just less than 2 months worth of travel, or about £200!Total: £50,676 £0 🥳 The journey to debt freedom0 -
It would be good pencakes if they gave you more of a discount for weekly/monthly travel cards. I'm glad I didn't get a travel card for the job I had otherwise I would have been seriously out of pocket!

sorry got sidetracked.
Right update for today:-
Got reply from MD about my missing money! Getting some of it back (more than I expected though) and some vouchers for M&S so I can treat myself to new (and well needed) jeans. The money is meant to be getting paid on monday into my account. So I'll put it towards the end of jan bills.
Changed my canadian $20 and got £10.80. Put £10 towards Jan bills.
My Gran gave me £10 for petrol, thank you. Love her loads. I also cane home with a new mattress protector (for my spare bed), a carpet vac (for the stairs), a stomach exerciser and a sleeping bag. Thank you to my Gran (stuff from her loft).
Been asked back to the CS (it'll keep me sane) till I get a job.
Found my old biker jacket from my teens in my Gran's loft and it still fits!!!!!
Tea tonight was cheesey pasta for me and Ald*s pakora for OH. Having a glass of wine tonight with OH.
