Hoping to make a few extra payments again this week. I'm so tired. Had thought about staying in bed but the thought of being a day's wages down at the end of the week appealled even less!

Made lovely stew last night. Beef, onion and butternut squash. Very simple but very filling.

  • Unfortunately money is the reason most of us drag ourselves out of bed to go to work. I wish it was the love of the job but that rarely happens!!!

    Your stew sounds yummy!!!!

Thanks HAW, how are you? I saw the stew on the sainsbugs advert so googled the recipe. It says you need:-

    Beef
    Onions
    Butternut squash
dried apricots (I didn't use these)
    tin of kidney beans
    stock cube

It was really nice and very filling.

Its freezing in work today. I have given in and got fleecy tights under my trousers (stops me shivering waiting on the train). OH is day shift again so it'll be a long day. Stew for me for dinner and OH can have sausages on a roll. Thinking about putting together a severe weather kit bag for my Mum and Dad (one each) that they can put in their cars. They stay out in the wilds so I worry about them travelling about.

    Contents:-

    small snow shovel
    de-icer
    ice scraper
    bag of sweets/mints

all in a converted plastic rubble sack (going to cut up one of the bags length ways to make ties. Fold over the edge of the sack I'll use insert the drawstring tie and use double-sided sticky tape to seal edge of the bag. Tie drawstring ends).

What do you think? Would you like to receive somethign like this? Anything else that should go into it? I thought the bags would be good as they'll keep things dry.

  • I'm doing good thanks! Busy at work which should help the day go faster!!

Sounds really easy actually!!! My friend made me chilli beef risotto on Friday night and I've decided that'll be my next meal to attempt! Was soooo tasty!! :)

That's a really good idea for your mum and dad!!! How about a torch for the bag? And those wee hand warmers you can get?

Good idea HAW, I'll include those. I might post exactly how much it costs me. Rubble sacks are pretty cheap and certainly a lot cheaper than buying proper canvas bags for things.

I meant to say for the stew I made it said to coat the beef in plain flour before cooking, which i did and I ended up with nice gravy not lumpy at all. The risotto sounds nice, do you have the recipe?

Yeah do please! Very MSE :)

Oh cool! Thanks for the tip!!

She apparently buys the chilli beef from the butchers. It's already pre-packed with peppers and onions in it! (cheat!! ;)) Make the risotto as normal. She adds in a bit extra garlic, what looked like half a bottle of wine (just happened to be rose she had), mix all together once cooked, and add a spoonful of creme fraiche to it to make it a bit more creamy before serving. We both had a second helping :D

    EDIT:
Oh. Long date protein bars maybe too... :)

Morning All, I have a dilemma. The snow shovels I bought last night (2 of), I checked the receipt (I normally do this in store but had a lot to carry) and they gone through as 2@ £3.99 and 1@ 3.99 in other words I've been over charged! Is it too late now to go back to the store? I can pop in there after work.

The world seems to be full of rude people this morning. I get into work this morning to find someone has nicked my chair. She wasn't happy with the chair she had (broken) so instead of swapping hers with one from one of the empty desks she takes mine. I didn't say anything, then she said what wrong? Thats your chair isn't it? , I replied 'well actually no it isn't mine's a different colour and I'd set it all (height, tilt etc) for me'. She's a horror. This is the woman that was saying nasty things about the junior behind her back!

My dehumifier arrived and it works brilliantly but the courier opened my garage (which we thought was locked) and put it inside. The garage is part of the house not separate. The courier company don't see what the problem is. Can anyone else see where I'm coming from?

So all in all not the best start to the morning. On top of that on the train there was some woman letting her kids run riot through the carriage, screaming, kicking people, pinching them and she didn't give a hoot. Off to have my instant porridge and a cuppa and try and calm down :(

Keep calm and carry on :D

Decide that the horrendous morning isn't gonna spoil the rest of your day. Slap on your happy face and enjoy today.

(I'm trying to keep my happy face on these days too as I'm awful for letting things get to me! :oSee my recent post in my diary here...)
