And me - I wouldn't touch this job with a barge pole.

Actually, if it was me having to make that decision, I wouldn't touch the job with with a barge pole either.

But that's not for me (or anyone) to decide.

Which is why I keep asking OP for the facts, pointing out her options based on what she says she wants to do, and telling her she must make her own decision (and actually if you go back to earlier in the thread, I drafted a very forthright letter for her, which she didn't send - presumably because she still wanted the job). At the moment she is saying that she wants to put the manager's early remarks to one side and see how she feels once she has spoken to this member of staff at the weekend. So I have pointed out the pitfalls, and also suggested ways in which she could at least minimise the risk.

Just saying 'I wouldn't do it, if I were you' isn't helpful, and is actually irrelevant, since it isn't me.

It isn't the job of an adviser to make decisions for the person seeking information.

Thank you all for your advice/opinions....I'm going to sleep on it...but to be honest my gut feeling at the moment is to walk away....have been pondering alday and some things just don't make sense or add up.....and I can't afford to be without a job in few weeks/months time.

Sorry about this and skim reading (i think you have weekend induction etc) in my experience if you really do have a strong gut feeling and some things don't make sense or add up AND added to that you can't afford to be without a job then I'd, with regret or not turn this down.

in hindsight my gut feeling has always been right.

As Micha says - gut feelings are worth listening to.

My concern would be that you would be working for a manager who has made it very clear that she doesn't want to employ you. You need two years service before you have protection from unfair dismissal - that is a long enough time for her to find enough fault with your work to cover herself and get rid of you for reasons unrelated to your medical history, if she so wished, and you would have a hard time proving otherwise. I am not saying that WOULD happen, but that is the risk you take.

Let us know what you decide to do.

Ouch , I didn't see that! why on earth would you want to work for a manager who didn't want to employ you. I only see hardship ahead here in future. Listen to us please.:)

Nobody is deciding for the OP - we are saying what we would do in the circumstances described. What's the issue?
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

I don't think there was a issue? I think zzzLazyDaisy was just saying that that at the end of the day its my decision to make :)

Ok Thank you all fr your help/advice/opinions over the past few weeks, have decided NOT to take the position, there has been too much hassle involved and personally I think I would be outted at the first opportunity.

Wether it is the right decision or not I'll never know but my gut feeling is to walk away.

    Thank you all once again.
