...and as for the cat, a cat vomiting four times a day isn't normal. Has it been seen by a vet, poor thing? :(

I hope you get the house sorted; personally, I wouldn't bother cleaning anything that your sister left - I'd dump it in her room. :)

Probably sounds worse than it is. Basically he hacks up, move two inches away and hacks again, and repeats, so we get 4 small patches instead of one big one. He takes medication and has a prescription diet, which has it mostly under control. Just leaves us the occasional present now!

The cat's definitely my favourite atm, despite expelling bodily fluids everywhere :)

Fair enough if you're just letting off steam, but unless this is your house you need to just accept that's how your sister is and get over it. If you want a home where the residents have to behave in a manner acceptable to you, you need to get one of your own.

Of course if this is actually your house, you should just lay down the law..
  • I'd feel I couldn't bear for my mum to come home to such a messy house and as it is my day off, I would have to do something about it, for Mum's sake. But just put your sister's stuff in her room and tidy the "public" areas.
I am guessing your mum is the real martyr here, as she probably cleans up after your sister all the time.
If she's not happy about that, be supportive in any methods she proposes to get your sis to do her share - or move out. Good luck.
    ( I had a messy sister too )

I can't help but think it odd you talk about wanting the house tidy and not living in a midden, yet you have a cat who happily pees on clothes!

    Cat pee reeks!

Don't any of you have a problem with that?

I know what I've described doesn't seem too awful, but the house is just a trail of clutter and mess right from the front door (as she didn't bother lifting the post, or bringing in the bins either ) Unfortunately it doesn't seem to cross her mind to do these things - she must think there's a magic tidying fairy or something!

    !

Of course she thinks this if you've been tidying up after her!

Tidy it all including her room and send her an itemised cleaning bill. If she refuses to pay start selling her belongings.
  • You haven't mentioned how you mother feels about mess? If she hates it. it's up to her to tell your sister to get her act together. If she doesn't mind it - maybe it's time for you to leave home?

We had a cat like that for years - you do become immune to it over time.:o
  • Either put them all in her bed - especially the stuff soaked with cat wee - or stick it all in bin bags and take it to the tip, so she doesn't have any shoes, handbags or clothes to leave laying about.

She'll probably scream blue murder, but a mild 'I didn't know what else to do with it, you can't get the smell out of that stuff and I'd hate my little sister to be known as The One Who Stinks of !!!!, so I've helped you out'
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

    Crikey!

Our cat did in her last few months if we didn't put her outside often enough and the stench brought tears to our eyes! Maybe she had a particularly strong odour..
