shelly_crow - sounds serious that one - I would opt for a new one - check out of auction sites to see what the price difference between repair / second hand is or repair and new. I think the D900i you can get for around £40 upwards so not really worth going through repair.

To be honest if a phone is so prone to breaking its screen, then I would avoid it altogether and get something else!

Just an update with what i`ve done, i`ve emailed BBC Watchdog about hubby`s mobile because i happen to think it should be fixed under warranty - he has`nt even topped up yet!
Also has anyone been in touch with trading standards? because i`m thinking the sale of goods act should give some protection.
    Oh I am Mad !!

even if he hasnt topped it up yet, it wont make a difference as screen damage is usually classed as damage by the consumer

and dropping the phone, from whatever height, is not really accidental damage or a design fault

hi everyone just been reading up on here about your samsungs my daughter has a u600 only 8 months old but screen has gone been quoted various prices from 35 to 55 pound ! looked on ebay to see how much the sreens were still quite pricey but came across a power seller on there who replaces lcd screens for £14.99 and £5.00 postage his feedback is brill and returns phone to u within few days we have sent hers off fingers crossed ! if anyone wants more info i will gladly help
  • as time goes by things get cheaper lol. well 900 screens have anyway, about to replace my screen for the third time. hands up! my fault all three times. first replacement cost 70 about a year ago, second was only 35 about six months ago from my local independent phone shop. hopefully third will be cheaper still. good phone so consider it worthwhile. on the battery front i am a heavy user and find 2 days is a push. but problem solved when i purchased a new one from hong kong via ebay for less than £10 ( delivered)
  • I'm surprised to read about this. I had no idea that the D900 was prone to problems. I have had mine for coming up to 2 years now, have dropped it several times onto concrete, and *touch wood* is still working perfectly. My Mum has the same phone and hers is also fine. I guess we've just been lucky
  • In the family there were 3 Samsung phones d900's two candy and one black one. all 3 of the screens on all of them have broke.

    The problems :

My Samsung d900 candy the screen got all funny after dropping it a few times but was alright tho it look darker on some of the screen to the rest, and then sometime later my son got a hold of it and threw and the screen wouldn't turn on anymore but the buttons lights up still.

The next samsung d900 black the screen just went funny and if it was crashed by something , but the phone never been dropped or nothing. and it looks like the screen been cracked by something as the screen all black with lines when it's turned on.

The next samsung d900 which is the second candy one to, the screen turns on, but it like upside down the thing is and looks like a tv not tuned in on small of the screen while the rest of it is upside down.

All screens have gone funny within around the same time, all phones tho were brought at differnt times the black one was the lastest one that got brought.

I like to know where it is best to get these repairs at a low price or is it worth getting a new phone with trying to repair them.

so u BROKE your 4 month old fone by sitting on it and ur wondering what samsung will do about it?!

in short - samsung wont do anything. u broke it so u pay for the repair.. unless insured, even then theres like a £50 excess.
