Firstly, I have been thinking a lot of the Nice People going through testing times at the moment. I don't have any useful advice, but you are all so very caring for those around you, and I hope that situations resolve themselves as painlessly as possible.

Onto more frivolous stuff - here I am sleeping under 2 duvets (all to myself!) :D I feel like the princess from the 'princess and the pea' story. No other bodies in my bed to warm things up (in any way!), but I do love my hot water bottle. A lot.

Minor panic today - thought the motherboard on my (borrowed) laptop had finally given up the ghost. Had a panic almost a year ago which was solved by buying a new power cable, and the same kind of thing happened today (wouldn't switch on, error light flashing). Tried a few things this morning before giving up, tried a few more this evening and taking the battery out for a min or so then starting without the power cable plugged in seems to have done the trick. Phew!

I see my bedroom and it needs to look right.

Otherwise no-one would have doors on wardrobes.

How about to keep dust out?

thanks doozer, lydia and lir :) I stopped a bit after I posted last night and finished the rest of this morning. All done for a few more months (progress reports!)

GDB: the retreat does look really nice, but as I'm a natural talker that wouldn't work for me. I can see how it would work for someone needing a bit of time out and slowing down.

Beds, king size and one duvet. I am a deep sleeper but wriggle a lot so not great on the sharing front but not been asked for any other concessions so not changed.

Hope everyone who has loads of things to deal with manage. I am just about to drop myself into a small heap

I'd be lost without my computer. Too much of my life's on it, bit unhealthy and unwise I think. Need to keep backing up stuff on a spare hard drive or mediafire or adrive or summat.

It wasn't so much that my life is on here, or the internet access (have a smartphone and work laptop). Just the part of my life a few years ago that I'm really trying to get closure on... another way that the Universe is trying to show me that I still care and telling me to get a bloody move on I think!

Be careful Nikkster, My unfinished PhD thesis is stored on outdated floppy discs in my attic. I took a fulltime job and lost momentum. It was back in the day when Amstrad computers were taking over from BBC Basics. Ah, the march of technology.

Anyway learn from my mistakes !

A weird online moment the other day. Telling a goup how to research on the internet and getting them to research things when one of them mentioned a football team my grandpa had played for. I told them he'd played for that team and a few others. He wasn't particularly famous in any way but about 8000% better at footie than me.

One of them says here he is on Wikipedia and showed me an article which just contained the few anecdotes about his career I'd said. I immediately assumed someone had written the article as I'd said it but they'd have to be pretty fast. Turns out there's a bit of internet activity where football wteam websites are linking former players names to webpages on wikipedia and some chap in the US had written my grandpa's article. Can't wait to tell my p and m and sibs.

As long as you're keeping (fit) healthy then no harm in my books. The PC is far more entertaining than TV :)

Life is all about the up's and down's. There will never be a time (or long time) where everything is going great in every department of your life. The answer is within yourself (mind) to manage these situations, whatever they may be.

Latest update on michaels family seems less encouraging - looks like being a long one :(

We seem to be going through a everything breaking period, main car still out of action as I think problem is hydraulic and 50-100 quid but mobile mechanic who has the key is suggesting £600 quid clutch and flywheel, not surprisingly I want second opinion. Then main PC is still out of action as I haven't managed to win the parts I am after on ebay yet and then this evening the network hard-disk seems to have failed which had the kids dvds on it and I'm not sure we still have the original discs for several of the movies :(

And even worse my work in London has been extended for another 6 months when all I want is to be based back in St Albans :(
    I think....

I've never had momentum. I need to find some! I have just under 6 months - hopefully the hard disk its backed up on doesn't become obselete before then :) I'll live if it doesn't happen, just need to win my literal mind games...

That's amazing about your grandpa! Isn't technology amazing? (when it works)
