So Fifty Shades has launched literally hundreds of copycat authors. They almost all have dark grey covers (like Fifty Shades) and a fake sticker printed on saying something along the lines of 'You loved Fifty Shades of Grey you'll adore this'. The same has also happened in recent times with the Twilight and Hunger Games series for example.
It's such a shame when there are genuinely brilliant authors out there not getting the press they deserve.
Yeah....colours are popular, have noticed one about yellow and a blue one too...oh and numbers.0 -

Sounds wonderful!
I'm so sorry about the interesting boiler. Still, it gives you something to talk about. Ours stops every couple of years (usually because the water pressure is low) and it is blessedly silent about it. Could you ask for the alarm to be removed? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

It really IS interesting.
Dh hand delivered our complaint to the complaints body in the evening. He went to the address and there was no indication of them there though, so he went to something with a related sounding name where the people said yep, it was 'them'. So he handed over our complaints package to a foursome playing cards. He said it was all a little weird.0 -
Well we're on the last leg of our drive up to Brisbane. We drove 4 hours to Port Macquarie last night after work. Then we went to something unusually Australian (unique even?) where a bunch of different builders put up some show homes for you to visit. Blimmin' flip there were some nice places. For $400,000 we can get a 4 bed, 4 bath, 4 reception place built that was really very nice, if a bit pointlessly flash and huge. As land in the cities costs more and more you can justify getting more and more silly places built in the provincial areas.
This has meant a huge drive this afternoon and evening of about 700kms in about 8 hours with a couple of hours of breaks for food/kids. I am shattered although at least my last stint behind the wheel is over as Mrs Generali is doing the last dash from Ballina to Brizzie. That's 'only' a couple of hundred Kms on multi lane roads (mostly) so nothing really. I did the 2 hours leading up to dusk which is the dodgy bit as that's when the Roos move to new feeding grounds and end up in the road. As a roo is slightly bigger than a deer and tends to roll up the bonnet and in through the windscreen when hit its generally good to dodge them. I saw one in the road but he wondered off before I got there. Several dead ones were by the roadside.
Dinner at Ballina RSL (a tiny bit like a British Legion but on an epic scale thanks to Aussie gambling laws) was lovely as we watched the sun go down over the river.
Oh and I saw a massively huge funnel web at Coffs Harbour where we stopped for the kids to run riot at the beach.0 -
Are you sure it down down ?
It doesn't seem to have made an appearance over this side of the planet yet 'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

Oh yes. The temperature on the car thermometer is down 10C to 22 now the sun has dropped and in Ballina the stars were really clear in the sky.
It was really humid today as we've had a load of rain.
We might have a little bit of cyclone later in the week up here which might make for an interesting wedding, especially if outdoors as I think it is.0 -

I suppose your boiler is fairly interesting, but if you want really interesting, you should have attended yesterday evening's seminar: "Socio-demographics Exploring The Future and Defining The Questions". Hardly anyone at all nodded off. At least, none of the speakers did.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
The not eating can be a sign of of depression I am sure.
My grandmother had anorexia in her last 15 years (she died aged 90) but it wasn't diagnosed as such ...just that she was old and frail. It was her silent reaction to her over bearing and somewhat bullying husband of 60 odd years.
This is a hard one for you as maybe she doesn't think it right to unload how she feels onto her child......it's like a role reversal as the mother feels she is always the carer. Is there any outside groups or similar where she could go just to talk through the grief.
If she's doing the 'brave face ' so as not to worry everyone but is just consumed with a feeling of huge loss inside, then this could be depression rather than depressed...if that makes sense.
Consumed by a huge loss is about right, no brave face and no willingness to talk to anyone outside. In fact nothing to say to anyone. Nothing can make it right and she doesn't want to feel better. Which makes me think that its turning to depression.
She is coming here in a couple of weeks time so we shall see how she is. House is going to be full at times so will be interesting whether she hides a way or interacts.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I really woke up when at one point one of the speakers, an important statistician, clearly forgot that "correlation does not imply causation". :j:j:j
Apart from that, there were more questions than answers. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
