I need to delete all the trash I have read, and have 'removed from device' but the title pages stay. Is there away to get rid of those cluttering up my virtual shelves?
Hmm, I use the PC version of that software. Right-click...Remove from device does indeed remove it plus the title page.Oh dear! Did you have the urge to rush over to kent to make sure she is OK?
Actually, I didn't. She seemed fine over the phone, and we spoke 2 or 3 times. Perhaps we should nurture more? OTOH, she is 26, and this is hardly the first time there's been a prang. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Definitely. But I can't put that right.
What is the border line between being depressed and depression?
and is not eating a sympton of grief or can it turn into anorexia?
The not eating can be a sign of of depression I am sure.
My grandmother had anorexia in her last 15 years (she died aged 90) but it wasn't diagnosed as such ...just that she was old and frail. It was her silent reaction to her over bearing and somewhat bullying husband of 60 odd years.
This is a hard one for you as maybe she doesn't think it right to unload how she feels onto her child......it's like a role reversal as the mother feels she is always the carer. Is there any outside groups or similar where she could go just to talk through the grief.
If she's doing the 'brave face ' so as not to worry everyone but is just consumed with a feeling of huge loss inside, then this could be depression rather than depressed...if that makes sense.lostinrates wrote: »I am a bit of a bxtxh and prefer to do this sort of thing with a harder face to the outside, and very, very few people aren't ' outside' .here it's ok, I don't have to talk, you gets cannot see me. Weird huh?
Not weird, sounds normal to me. Thinking of you and OH sends his condolences too. He liked the horses a lot even though he is 100% surburbanite.0 -

.
Aha.
That's why I have the choice of viewing by the cloud or viewing by the device. Now off my bookshelf but creating baggage in my cloud. I'll figure that out another day. Sadly in mac land the weather ain't free and with the volume of books ( including some serious crud) I am reading I don't need that kind of pressure in my cloud.
On the plus side I have learnt I could knock out a cr4ptastic novella about weekly I reckon, to sell for 11 p or something. I won't, but I could. So e of these are astoundingly devoid of talent.0 -
Silver, I am a bit concerned about your mum. My experience is that, when parents are in a good place mentally, you can give them any old tat for their birthday and they'll still smile and be pleased you remembered them.
The only time I can remember my mother being upset is when I bought her a cookbook! And that was because she thought I was hinting.
It must be very sad for your mum. They had most of a lifetime together, and now there's nobody at home to share her birthday with. She has a perfect right to be depressed, quite frankly. In fact, it might be worse if she was bottling it up. Depressed => crotchety quite often, btw.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Sounds normal - I'm fine until someone says something caring in those kind of situations.Silver, I am a bit concerned about your mum. I think that's spot on.0 -

Something we've been talking about this week is the number of 'me too' books that you get one someone discovers a new successful genre. So Fifty Shades has launched literally hundreds of copycat authors. They almost all have dark grey covers (like Fifty Shades) and a fake sticker printed on saying something along the lines of 'You loved Fifty Shades of Grey you'll adore this'. The same has also happened in recent times with the Twilight and Hunger Games series for example.
It's such a shame when there are genuinely brilliant authors out there not getting the press they deserve. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Dogs woke me at four to go out and I wondered what the hell was going on at the farm that the tractor was constantly reversing at that the of day. When I stumbled up not much more awake a bit later realised that was the boiler alarm. Stupid thing gone off and issuing an alarm.
Hibernation really sounds great....why don't all my animals hibernate? We could all snuggle down in October, wake up for a feast and piddle around Christmas then hibernate again till spring.
Winter used to be my favourite season.0
