I sent kind thoughts but not kind wishes yet. Please take this to be kind wishes too!

It's weird what people will reject a house for. I've seen houses where other viewers just turned around and walked out because they didn't like the furniture. It made me want to say, "You do understand that goes with them don't you?" but I didn't.

The weather here is great. Autumn is the best here as the weather is warm and dry. The evenings are cool but it can still get up to mid-high 20s in the day. Sunday was about 28C. I got a small triangle of sunburn where I forgot to do my chest where the v in my t-shirt is! It's still pretty painful.

Many thank's to your good self also Generali.

Yes we have had a couple of strange couples viewing our property and it makes you take a deep breath and just say nothing it is the easiest way I think.

Glad to hear that your weather is nice and warm, well more like hot by the sound of things, the Sun is a very powerful mass of energy and has a power mass that can destroy cells in our body.

In August last year I developed a spot on the tip of my nose, of all places, went to see the Doctor and she said that you will have to go to the Hospital and have it removed. To cut a long story short it turned out to have been possibly caused by the Sun and the pathologist that examined a sample they took found it to be a Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) which is a form of skin cancer and I was fortunate that it has been fully excised.

The surgery was on the Friday afternoon before the Sunday that I took SB through to her University Halls to start her course. I was a bonny looking sight with a nose bandaged and the scars on my cheek where they had taken a grafting.

So we have to be so careful with exposing our skin to the Sun allbeit the best time of the year for many of us. Todays temperature her is -1C at the moment so not too uncomfortable. Have a nice week Generali..

Bertie, well done for getting it looked at and treated straight away.

Did the doctors say whether you were okay to go out with some suitably high SPF sun cream on? My wife is always nagging me to put the stuff on, and I'm not that good. So, it's good to hear your reminder that it really matters.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Skin cancer is now I think the biggest killer in Aus after smoking and drinking. The horridest form for me is when the tear ducts get cancer.

I'm generally pretty careful: sunscreen (factor 30+), T-shirt, hat and a good pair of sunglasses. However I do spend a lot of time outdoors for my sports (soccer, cycling and kayaking) which is no good. I suspect that the cardiovascular benefits of sport outweigh the negatives of skin cancer and ultimately life has to be about enjoyment as well as health; it's a matter of striking a balance.

    Talking of parrots reminds me:

Late one night, a burglar broke into a house that he thought was empty. He tiptoed through the living room but suddenly he froze in his tracks when he heard a loud voice say; “Jesus is watching you.”

Silence returned to the house, so the burglar crept forward again. “Jesus is watching you,” the voice boomed again.

The burglar stopped dead in his tracks. He was frightened. Frantically, he looked all around the room. In a dark corner, he spotted a bird cage and in the cage was a parrot. He asked the parrot: “Was that you who said Jesus is watching me?”

    “Yes,” Said the parrot.

The burglar breathed a sigh of relief, then asked the parrot: “What is your name?”

    “Clarence,” said the bird.

“That is a dumb name for a parrot,” sneered the burglar. “What idiot named you Clarence?”

The parrot said, “The same idiot who named the rottweiller Jesus.”

MiL has had perhaps 6 or a dozen skin cancers cut out. Her mum goes every year to the Docs to have a couple removed. A tan isn't good and a 'red tan' like my Mum's boyfriend gets is idiotic, really very stupid.

Many thank's GDB ..The Doctors said that I should not expose myself to the Sun without first covering my nose with suitable Sun cream on. So I will certainly take their advice. The healing took until Christmas to fully heal but I am so grateful to the Hospital for what they have done for me I want to give them all big hugs.:)

So everyone reading this PLEASE cover up from the Suns rays as they are so powerfull better to be safe than sorry.

So glad that you are taking good care of yourself with the high tempertures that Australia can reach plus 40C, that is hot.

When you consider that the Sun is made up of something like 70% Hydrogen and nearly 30% Helium that is a furnace up there.:(

    Grrrrr.

Insurers want a post mortem so we are probably not going to claim. A post mortem means stress for the horses left behind and lots for predators to be attracted to ( body is in the field so we cannot scrub down).

My vet is saying as far as he is concerned she meets the guidelines for having been PTS in the field without absolute diagnosis anyway.

Pfftf. There's a whole heap of money thrown away:(

Probably not a terribly tactful thing to say just at the moment, but it's nearly always going to happen with most of the pets people have, eg dog, cat, or horse. I think that parrots and tortoises have pretty long life expectancies, but I can't imagine ever getting attached to one, anyway. So, if you have a pet, you have to remember/enjoy the good times, and parting is, sadly, pretty inevitable.

It's in fact just that the puts me off parrots as pets. How do you know they will be ok after you? A parrot I took care of fell in love with me, which was bittersweet. She was very stressed in her home and performed several stereotypical behaviours, including pulling out all her feathers.

Losing loved family members is brutal, but leaving vulnerable ones to care you cannot oversee.....it terrifies me.
