It is, or at least it is definitely possible to put a temporary hold on its use until you contact again to report that either it has been found or a new one needs ordering. It does delay the re-ordering, as they won't re-order until the current one is stopped completely.
Maybe it's bank specific. I couldn't find my card a few years back and the card was registered 200 miles from where I was living (banking info always left at parents' address)..... and I wanted to stop it if stolen, but not if I'd just lost it - and the Co-Op said they couldn't do that. It was either reported lost and cancelled, or not. I had to report it lost.

Sounds like I need to make friends with some tradespeople ;)
You have to be closely related. Unless it's in the direct/immediate family or you're married to them they'll just see you as "Female, single, easy target for rip off...."

    I've been Money Tipped!
I didn't know a temporary hold was possible.

I can easily last five to seven days without a card unless, as in recent months, my health has let me take things close to the edge like how much animal feeds we have.

Worst came to the worst I could always ask a parent for a loan, but I have never needed to. I have ample cash in my wallet and plenty of food in, and almost a full tank of petrol, so I am not worried.

PN - you can relax, you'll have to wait a little longer to see me on DIY SOS/ Help! My House is Falling Down :)

Apparently there were 2 offers over asking price  I'm sure there was shock in the estate agent's voice when I spoke to him. I really can't see how they can do all that is needed within a sensible budget - unless they are tradespeople and have a lot of friends in other trades.

I have a horrible feeling that the market around here is considerably hotter than I was hoping for at the moment!

onwards and upwards! the next one will be better :)

Just as I had reported my bank card lost (depressingly common occurrence for me...it's the broken brain thing) I found it, but it was too late to reverse. Very frustrating.

I did learn from the bank that the last time I used my card was two weeks ago. I was quite pleasantly surprised by that, but dh used his for me to buy some fresh fruit at the weekend, so it hasn't been two personal spend free weeks.

:( sorry that you can't do that.

If it helps, I lose my cards temporarily a lot too. I often pay by card and stuff it into the nearest available space, often not my wallet. it goes into shopping bags, spaces in handbags, coat pockets etc. it really irritates DH :(

DS1 perpetually loses his cards. Which has resulted in him believing that I have extra sensory powers, as I can usually guide him to where it has been left.

A couple of months ago Mr S mislaid his bank cards. They were in a very slim black card holder which he usually puts near the keys. He thought he had taken them with him when he went to tennis...searched his tennis bag, thought they had fallen out in car...searched car, remembered he had had them at work...so next day searched his office.

On arriving home needing his cards as he was due to fly off somewhere he was very frustrated and I was a tad patronising in insisting that he try to 'walk through' his ever move for the last few days. I "counselled" him through this asking lots of open questions to stimulate his memory. Several hours later as every move was recounted and he had revisited in his mind all recent locations it worked:T. I opened my hand bag ...and took his cards out. I had remembered picking them up with my car keys.:o

I tried insisting that my method of recall was valid.

I've always wished that bank cards had an eyelet in the corner... so they could be affixed to a card holder strapped round your neck.

I'm sure that would be possible, like the key fob Tesco Clubcard (other loyalty cards are available) thingys.

They might well, but they would hopefully realise that I'm good at researching on the internet and would be quite prepared to 'camp' rather than live in a house for a while (as opposed to paying top whack to get things done as quickly as possible). I'm also pretty good at working out when someone is bs-ing (that includes my ex btw - I just didn't get out as quickly as I should have for a number of reasons which I completely regret with hindsight).

Assuming that I don't find anywhere too quickly/ anywhere that I found was habitable, I am seriously considering trying learn a bit of plastering/ tiling etc.

That is what I am worried about :)

Make sure you specify payment in something tangible, rather than 'in kind'!
